Re: Interested in “Into the Borderlands”

Hi! I haven't written anything in these forums since DCCrpg was still just a playtest! :D But Into the Borderlands called me back in! I've read on twitter/FB that postage to Europe is 50$. More than the actual book. Damn. We actually got a really sweet deal on the first DCCrpg preorder, I think we g...

Re: Anybody daring to swear he doesn't roll concealed? ;)

I always roll in the open.

I am actually thinking of having PCs roll Active Defense against the monster "Attack DC".
So maybe they can burn Luck on Defense rolls.

Re: Halfling Lucky Charms

I always assumed it was +2 but now I am not so sure. It does say that they double the bonus of a luck check which also implies that it's double when added to others as well. But it does say "gains a +2 to HIS roll" on p. 60. I think i will go the "hardcore" way, of allowing a 2:...

Another person who appreciates the fine scent of a freshly-printed book! I too love that smell.
Both fresh new books and old yellow books have a delightful smell. Most of the times. :D

Re: Actions : others activities

Another question on action : a character can use 1 action to declare a charge. In order to charge, he must move at least half his speed. This means that with a Charge action the character move and attack ? (or use a Move action and if in contact use an attack action but with +2 ?) I would say so. C...

Re: Spell Level Max

Of course this is just speculation, as i have no insight of how Joseph did all that. First , I guess they gave precedence to the spells that are and always have been staples of the D&D franchise : think of Magic Missile, Flaming Hands, etc. Second, if I had lots of spells but had to leave some o...

Re: A few questions

Yeah, the mithril thing kind of throws me off as well. I ran into this issue with the beta when one of the 0 level PCs started with a chunk of mithril. How rare is it? I mean, if every armored elf has to be equipped in mithril, it can't be that rare. I don't like the mithril thing really. I'd like ...

Re: [House Rule] Ability Score Bump

*Poison of the Dreamless Death* Very strong poison; if the character survives, it gains +1 STA Nasty! I love it! That actually is a great idea for both poisons and diseases. Surviving a particularly nasty ailment should be rewarded! Thanks :) I like to see the game and its penalties/rewar...

Re: [House Rule] Ability Score Bump

As I think I already said in a previous thread on this matter, I just like to hand out *RARE* stats increases as rewards : here are some examples *The Potion of Golden Clarity* Single use: gives a permanent +1 to INT or PER (choice) *Ruhkajazzar's Blessing* Increases STR by 2 points if less than 12,...

Re: Dead Characters

It really depends on the DM. Some like to add 0 Lvl PCs. Others like to add PCs of at least 1st Level (so they're not utterly useless) Others allow a PC at the current party level, or at the same XP of the deceased one. --- I read some people have the player create four 0-lvl PCs, then randomly kill...

Re: Recovering the dead.

It's not specified. I guess it would depend on the DM : I would say 10 in normal circumstances , higher if the fallen PC was knocked out with a particularly vicious blow, such as a dragon bite or a critical hit ( in which case, a 15 would seem appropriate). Extreme circumstances of death might call ...

Re: Opposed check for surprise? Just initiative?

From my experience as a player and as a DM, rolling lots of checks usually plays against the PCs. If you're trying to sneak past 2 guards you have to roll twice. If your sneaking bonus is high enough, you can do it. But if instead of 2 guards, we have 10, you'd have to roll 10 times separately, know...

Re: Alignment as Political

I'd suggest to the OP to find a copy of AD&D Planescape Campaign Setting. It's all based on factions rather than alignments. I think my first DCC campaign will use that setting for the roleplaying opportunities it presents, and the ease with which you can jump from one environment to a totally d...

Re: What adventures will be available when core book release

It will be good news to many that the Free RPG Day modules are included in the core rule book. However, not trying to look a gift horse in the mouth, I personally prefer my rule books to not have adventures in them. There are issues with players getting hold of the book and seeing the adventure, bu...

Re: How would you judge the following

Especially at 0-level, during the funnel, I like to turn a lot of the checks (around 60% of them) to Luck checks. As a peasant in a dungeon, Luck is really what makes the difference to me: and having lots of Luck checks, presents Luck Burning as a double edged weapon; it might save you now, but soon...

Re: DCC preorder : international shipping ?

As for international shipping if you do want to order direct, it is your lucky day: go ahead and place an order with the existing $4 shipping charge. Long story short I would be happy to subsidize a bit of enthusiasm early on, and it's easier than dealing with some of Paypal's quirks. So: $4 intern...
