Re: One Shots

The jewelry heist module from Free RPG Day is pretty short. We played it in 2-3 hours. (Probably closer to 2 and a half.)

Re: More Elf vs Wizard quesions

Another thing to keep in mind is that you fall into being an Elf because your 0-level occupation was Elf something or another. Since your stats are random, you might be an Elf with strength that makes you a useless fighter, or intelligence that makes you a useless wizard. A human wizard would probab...

It might ugly up the pages, but using the actual kickstarter widgets would probably be a good idea. As it is those buttons don't really stand out. (Though it looks like you guys are on track to get funded.)

You start with 1D4 + 1D8. (So all first level characters have a 1D4 bonus set of HP.)

Re: Free RPG Day

I think it'd be easy to migrate a DCC RPG module for another game system. The stat blocks are similar enough to those from old editions of D&D for example. I got a 4th edition module as well, and it's certainly not going to be much use to someone who doesn't have the 4th edition rules. I mean, y...

I upgraded as well. As you've pointed out, the campaign is already a success. I think people get hung up on all these stretch goals.

Son of a bitch! :D

I wonder who else in the city is buying stuff there. Apparently they had ordered a few copies. For an indie game DCC RPG seems to be quite popular.

If anyone else is using Google+ to share D&D stuff please add me (Ramanan Sivaranjan) to your circle. I had written Google+ off a while ago, but recently discovered it's some sort of table-top gaming nerds Mecca.

Re: Got one at FLGS

If you are in Toronto, Hairy Tarantula downtown has 1 copy of the limited edition rules (with Doom of the Savage Kings) and 3 copies of Sailors of the Starless Sea for sale. (Sadly no People of the Pit, which is what I was looking for. The owner said he was expecting to get another order of the modu...

I feel the same way. I've got back into RPGs in a big way after reading through the rule book. I've been buying all sorts of other stuff, reading all sorts of blogs, starting my own, etc.

Re: Encumbrance Houserules Meanderings

Lamentations of the Flame Princess has pretty great/simply encumbrance rules. The way their character sheets are set up it's also pretty easy to track. You might want to grab the rules PDF and take a look.

I grabbed a copy in Toronto (nothing short of a miracle). I need to harass some friends to play it with me.

Re: Module PDF

I think offering up the books and PDFs at a reasonable price is the best you can do to avoid piracy. I'd say most people interested in your books will pay for a PDF even if they can acquire one through less scrupulous means. I think this is a big mistake Wizard's made when they pulled all their PDFs...

Re: (BHP) Appendix N Adventure Toolkits KICKSTARTER IS LIVE!

Agreed. I think if the goal is to raise $1000 then at this rate 30 days seems like more than enough time. Presumably there will be ways to buy these adventures that don't involve Kickstarter. I'm guessing the goal here is bootstrap a print run, not use Kickstarter like an online store.

My pre-order made it to Toronto (along with my copy of the rule book!). I love the limited edition cover. It's very well executed. I'll have to write up about the zi e itself later. Lots of great stuff. Now to subscribe!

Yeah, the play test rules are pretty good. It's a much simpler game. I think it's a nice change from 4E, and probably a better successor to 3E than 4E was. (I play 4E now, and I think it's fine, but it's definitely the odd edition out when it comes to D&D.)

I'm hoping mine arrives today, but i'm not holding my breath. I was hoping to pick up Sailors on the Starless Sea locally, though i'm not sure anyone besides Hairy T will have it. (Did you get Dueling Grounds to order a bunch of Goodman Games stuff, or were they just making an order for you?)

I've been harassing my wife while i'm at work asking if the book has shown up yet.

(I need to see if HairyT will be getting of the modules, etc, once its officially released. Duelling Grounds in my local store, but they don't seem to carry anything from 3rd party RPG publishers.)

Re: Is DCC RPG OSRIC?

It's definitely not a retro clone: it's not trying to emulate any of the previous editions of D&D. It's certainly retro in its tone and style, though. (In my mind, rules wise it seems to have more in common with the modern variants of D&D.) Anyway, I wouldn't waste too much time arguing with...
