Re: Dodge and Parry in DCC combat
Okay, now I'm wondering if actively parrying and dodging should involve rolling an Action Die -- it is after all something you are doing . Maybe you roll a 'to hit' roll to add 2 to your AC. Any attacker whose HD+10 is below that roll has to deal with the extra AC -- those above the result ignore t...

Re: New Unofficial Armor and Weapon Rules Beta
Just to add to the weapon reach point: boxers with longer arms are seen as having the reach advantage over their opponents. And we understand that the difference in length between two boxers in a same category, is far from comparable to the difference in length between, say, a dagger and a greatswor...

Re: New Unofficial Armor and Weapon Rules Beta
Cool stuff. Here's a question for you: why not give longer weapons some advantage in attacking first? Presently, if I understand your rules correctly, the guy with the dagger is likely to hit the guy with the greatsword first, due to d20 init for dagger vs d16 init for greatsword. However, I see app...

Re: How do characters carry bows when not in use?
We don't get into details like that in our gaming. It's assumed they have it on them and ready to pull when needed. What say others? Likewise. Carrying stuff, more generally, is not something we want to address. My players are fairly reasonable when it comes to that, no hoarders in our group. We si...

Re: New Unofficial Armor and Weapon Rules Beta
This is just a thought, but if you are going to go into this much detail, why not add in separate damage reduction values versus different weapon types? For example, chainmail does very little to protect against piercing attacks and essentially nothing against crushing attacks. +1d. I assume this i...

Re: Dodge and Parry in DCC combat
I agree that simple is best if you are playing a game where the story is the focus and not the game mechanics. Like Gilbert de Chatillon, I have a lot of real world experience fighting with these kinds of weapons in sporting events as well as in the dojo, and I promise you, hand to hand combat work...

Re: Do you have go-to voices for your NPCs?
Although voices help distinguish characters, I try to use them for humoristic or punctual/temporary NPCs only, because adding a different voice to character interpretation usually adds a layer of complexity to playing the role and to making its interpretation profound. For important/serious NPCs, I'...

Re: New Unofficial Armor and Weapon Rules Beta
As to your question, I think DR 6 is good for the heavier armor. I have a question about the pavise: if i undersand correctly, it provides +3 AC as base bonus. But the text under says that it can alternately be put on the ground to grant cover (-2 for attacker) instead of the defense mod (+3 AC?). I...

Re: New Unofficial Armor and Weapon Rules Beta
Ok, i needed to log in. Cool stuff there. It's more detail than I want in my DCC game, but I like the ideas behind your modifications. At a glance, they all seem to make sense to me. You could add, for the blowgun: on a natural roll of 1, you mistakenly inhale and swallow the needle. FORT check DC 1...

Re: Dodge and Parry in DCC combat
I'm with gnomeboy. IMO: Getting rules for parry and dogde loads the game with a more complex combat structure that makes combat rounds go slower. D&D 3E and 4E are good examples of this. They are nice rulesets for those who look for this kind of addition, but I prefer the simple abstraction myse...

Give Maledict +1 Luck. This one for having been lucky on dice... ************* Marshal has not been posting for a couple weeks now. Any news from him? If not, Gnomeboy, you feel like playing a thief? 2 PCs each seems like providing interesting game momentum (I take our other game as example).

Re: Matching DCC-appropriate Dice Sets Possible!
So... Being new to this kind of thing, how does it work now that the targets have been reached? It takes some time to get things into gear? When do we order specific colors or types of dice according to our initial purchase?

Re: The Revelation of Mulmo PBP - WARNING SPOILERS
My understanding is that attaching the panels together is not the intent: we simply need to manually hold two large panels in a V-shape next to each other, such that they extend from ground level all the way over their heads; and two people can walk behind the panels. Then, a single person can walk ...
