Re: Running a campaign
As @skippy already suggested, a list of hooks can go a long way. I suggest reading just the intro/backgrounds of all the adventures you’d like to run, build that hook list, then foreshadow foreshadow foreshadow. Hope that helps.

Re: Mighty Deeds for Monster
A monster *can* have a mighty deed. But, why complicate the matter? Monsters get to break “the rules.” If you want a monster to do something, then let it cost an action and (maybe) call for a saving throw. Maybe it only happens on a natural 18-20. Maybe it’s a standard attack. Etc. FWIW, I’ve found ...

Thanks Trevor! I hope you and your table enjoy it. I had a blast running Votishal for these recent sessions. It’s rare for me to be able to run the adventure in its entirety without having to somewhat railroad players due to the time constraints of a con slot.

Gather round, my gentles, for the telling of the fourth and final session of the Cyclops Con run of Violence for Votishal (Goodman Games DCCL #4). Unfortunately we were short a player, so the black wizard Ozor was recalled by his patron, Sheelba of the Eyeless Face. Fear not! This setback did not st...

Re: Stomp the typo / Errata & FAQ
Ok, this isn't really a typo but as a nurse irl it makes me cringe every time I see it and therefore am compelled to comment. In the Core Rulebook 5th printing result 17 on the Crit Table M: Monsters it reads: "PC's Achilles tendon is torn, snapping back into his thigh. The character's movemen...

Re: Minor Birth Augurs for Luck 8-12
An alternative to a fixed modifier for the augers is to use 1d7-4+Luck Modifier. If your Luck mod is 0, then your auger’s “bonus” ranges from -3 to +3 and is 0 on average. If your Luck mod is +2 then your auger bonus ranges from -1 to 5 and is 2 on average. Etc. Admittedly it makes things more swing...

In case it helps, the carousing table is a great way to drain belt pouches and keep the PCs wanting more rilks. See pg. 83 in the Judge’s Guide to Nehwon.

Re: Do you add luck to spellcasting?
@Nate Finch, as @Jim Skach says, there’s a bit of a history to that contradiction being put in. It originated from confusion in earlier editions over whether clerics added their Luck modifier only to their turn unholy checks, which are also called spell checks. Here is a response I made about it som...

Yeah, Daniel is spot on regarding Slave Drones. I was a play tester player for it and Steve Bean mentioned paranoia as a big influence.Raven_Crowking wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2020 12:22 pm Mother's Maze, by Daniel Vance, is very much this. So is Slave-Drones of the Fantas-Ti-Plex.

The VGC session of Crash of the Sky People (event 471) was fantastic and dramatic! The party killed the boss and (most of them) escaped the ship. And then they TPKd right at the 4-hour mark of the session. Wait, what? Read on… SPOILER ALERT! The warriors Bardolf and Orin Wardigger, the cleric Randy ...

@mAc Chaos: You concern over run time for the funnel is valid and a common challenge. Let me offer up some things that have helped me through the years on handling this: 1. Initiative per player per encounter (rather than initiative per PC and init per round) 2. It's rare in a dungeon environment th...

Re: How well do the Lankhmar adventures work with standard DCC?
The adventures work well in standard DCC, no problem. You may need to make minor adjustments and rulings for clerical and nonhuman abilities, but these can probably be done on the fly. As an example, if you run Violence for Votishal, you might need to figure how you wanted to rule Turn Unholy in enc...
