Re: DCC & Anomalous Subsurface Environment by Patrick Wetmor
This idea of Patrons being manifestations of the individual Magic User's psyche... insanity or not... reminds me of a book I recently read by Stephen King's son - NOS4A2... where various characters have access to 'powers' that involve some sort of item/device/vehicle that is not inherently magical b...

Re: DCChammer
What do you think about patrons in warhammer setting? chaos gods? malekith? teclis? nagash? or some other entities? The various Chaos gods and Nagash make sense... Malekith and Teclis don't feel right as Patrons to me, but I'd have to read up on them some more. In my version of Lustria the old Slan...

Re: DCChammer
Not sure if this counts but there's a version of Lustria in my homebrew DCC setting... not that anyone's gotten there yet... and I'm not sure if the rest of the Warhammer setting should be accessible from there or not (no one I play with would recognize it). Lustria has jungles, volcanoes, dinosaurs...

Re: New Crawljammer Character Classes -- Any Requests?
What class would let me play a scoundrel like Harcourt Fenton Mudd? Something of a space-pimp crossed with a snake-oil salesman. I'm thinking he shouldn't do much fighting himself... but would have a bodyguard or two. Also, I want a spaceship that's looks like the head from Zardoz (no need for Sean ...

Re: The Case AGAINST Elf Spellburn
I thought maybe that's where goblins come from... twisted, mutated elves.Maxwell Luther wrote:Yeah. Hey, maybe that's what happens to Elves who get corruption and use Spellburn? They have children who end up on the 0-Level Occupation table?

Re: Cthulhu as a patron....need spell list and whatever else
Going further, if I were faced with this option, I'd have the Patron not be Cthulhu himself, but rather some servant or other of Cthulhu. I think I'd concentrate on the dreaming interaction it seemed to have with humans in the story. I don't think it knew or cared about the nature of the minds it w...

Re: Another plea for dice...
The Q-Workshop dice my friends have look nice but they're a bit hard to read. Then again, I'm not a dice collector... give me basic, opaque polyhedrals with clear numbers. My DCC dice came from the Koplow 'Who Knew' sets... nothing fancy but they'll do nicely and they match my other 'normal' polyhed...

Re: VOID HUNTERS: The Flaming Kickstarter Thread of Doooooom
Void Hunters certainly sounded interesting to me when I first heard about it... But when I think of DCC-flavored scifi I'm hoping for something kinda wild and crazy... I'm certainly not thinking 'hard' 70s science fiction (if I wanted that I'd just go play Traveller or GURPS Space). I hope VH will k...

Re: Non-DCC materials that would suit the feel of DCC?
Thanks for all the suggestions. Lots of stuff I own, like, want or haven't heard of but want now that I have. Teratic Tome and ASE have moved to the top of my 'must buy' list. Arduin is a big favorite of mine. I don't think I've ever played a game that didn't at some point feature an idea that origi...

Non-DCC materials that would suit the feel of DCC?
It seems that there is a lot of stuff already out there that could fairly easily be converted to use with DCC... but I'm specifically wondering what would fit the weird/gonzo feel it captures so well. Forgotten Realms seems all wrong to me... but what about the Planescape stuff? The Underdark? How h...

Re: Aereth maps on this site
As it is I don't feel a big desire for an 'official' setting. I've been having a lot of fun building something of my own that fits the flavor of DCC I enjoy... something crazy and epic and weird (it ain't a planet drifting in the regular universe). A big cohesive setting to please the masses would b...

Re: Patrons book live on drivethrurpg
Man, I just finished reading through this thing... what a big box of fun! I dunno which one is my favorite... the sun-eating OCD metal monster, the arm that empowers you to shove guys through solid objects, the enormous reptile that gives a spell to SUMMON DINOSAURS!!! (and if you're lucky will turn...

Re: Familiars... Do the ever grow more powerful?
The danger with a powerful familiar is that it might start to become almost like a new PC, which sometimes has unexpected effects on party balance. One might find that the wizard spends all of his time having the familiar do things instead of the party members -- scouting or stealing things or what...

Re: Familiars... Do the ever grow more powerful?
I'd like it if they could scale, but doing so would require some investment/risk on the part of the Magic User... giving up some XP to the familiar or something... and some degree of risk of the Familiar gaining power on it's own somehow... eventually becoming something more. I like to think of them...

Re: A couple general book questions
I don't know about the DCC hardcover specifically (I'm running off the PDF)... but I know that with most hardcover textbooks (which are pretty sturdy IMO) if you open them up a bit you can see that the spine is separate from the pages... so if the DCC hardcover is built like the average textbook I'd...
