Does the forum allow private messages?
I have tried to PM someone who is local to me, but my PM won't leave my outbox. Wondering if this is supported.

Re: DCC Halfling only class that's worse than Basic D&D sour
In my long-running DCC campaign, my players each run 3 characters. Each one has a "primary" and none of those are halflings. This led to them abusing the good luck charm power, so I punished them for it every time. When they burned their good luck charm down to 3, the halfling usually ende...

Re: What DCC Needs Is.....
Oddly enough MrHemlocks a post of yours is close to my view: I realize that DCC core rules need to be reprinted but many of us have 4+ copies of the same rules...just different covers. There needs to be a change If going to make a box set for Pete's sake add something new to the table...like campaig...

Re: What DCC Needs Is.....
i feel that exploatative and demeaning treatman of women in media is real problem and that is very unwise to try to construct it somwhere where there is none. almost all covers for dcc (excluding people of the pit and easley cover) paint women as equal and active partners in adventuring. farrah is ...

Re: What DCC Needs Is.....
Let me put this in a different way. I totally understand your views on this. It's that the writing and artwork assumes a level of sophistication that is not for everyone. By no means does the game need to be changed. I'd just LOVE to give me friends' kids the DCC book, on Saturday, but I suspect the...

...to be a bit more gender-neutral, and more thoughtful about sexy images, even cartoons. I would introduce my friends' children to DCC, except I know their parents might object to certain aspects. Pathfinder has done a very good job at offering both male and female paragons, and female characters i...

Re: Matching DCC-appropriate Dice Sets Possible!
Since there is someone who makes dice on the thread, how do we know the spherical dice roll near true? I have the weird triangular d5 and it seems to be unreliable. Results are radically different depending on the surface on which I roll it. I feel as though the d10 and d14 numbered twice serve well...

Re: Sheep Men!! - Give your thoughts!
At the moment the "rival" is just a farmer who the party rescued from orcs but who objected to some of their more ruthless behavior. But you've given me an idea and I will give him a posse just to stick in their craw. They are oddly set on having enemies…why disappoint? The precious wool o...

Re: Sheep Men!! - Give your thoughts!
Oh and the hamming up of the sheep-men's speech is an easy win. The leader's name is Bra'a'a'ab and the priestess of the goddess of the meadow will be along a similar line. I've decided the party's rival will win the sheep men's affections and end up profiting more than the party, reaping the finest...

Re: Sheep Men!! - Give your thoughts!
Yesterday my players were tromping through the wilderness when they came to a region of rolling hills. They were gradually surrounded by sheep herded by a number of sheep-men, who insisted they help resume some of their kind who had been abducted…by a rival of the party. The party proceeded to bust ...

...MM is too much to manage; we tried but kept forgetting it.... I'm curious -- what makes it too much to manage? It seems to me, once you've determined it, it's just a note on your spell print-out or character sheet. And after a bit of use, just becomes what the spell is . Just getting my wizard t...

Re: Mercurial Magic - Who uses it?
I do not use mercurial magic, but this is unique to my gaming group. The wizard player is very role playing focused but not much for mastering detailed rules. MM is too much to manage; we tried but kept forgetting it. The threat of misfire and corruption keep him on his toes well enough for me. I re...

Re: Alternate Spellburn Actions
I will be imposing these on my spellburn-happy wizard at today's session. Thanks for expanding on a rule which I've been too lazy to use just yet; all we've been doing is have him lose ability score without any specific action happening. I'll offload some of the work onto the player to keep things r...

Re: DCC boxed set?
Marcus Aurelius said, and I'm paraphrasing here, 'if you want to understand a thing, you must break it down to its base nature.' I have identified three elements that separate TTRPGs from other game mediums, like video games or board games: 1. Play takes place in the acoustic area of the brain, not...

Re: Alternate Barbarian
There is a rage mechanic already in DCC which could be adapted for Barbarian or Half-orc. It is on pg. 84 and 85 on Crit Tables IV and V; it is defined in the footnote on pg. 82. It is basically a spellburn-like mechanic (rageburn?) where the character can burn Int or Per to gain a combat advantage....

Re: REH, Leiber, Merritt, Moore, CAS, Vance setting
Something that always resonates with me in fantasy fiction, which I think needs to be part of a compelling campaign world, is a believable history, something that is woven into the world as presented to the reader. The Hyperborians in REH's Conan setting were ancient conquerors; early 20th century N...

There is also the three-volume trade paperback series by Del Ray books: The Coming of Conan the Cimmerian The Conquering Sword of Conan The Bloody Crown of Conan I like those books quite a bit and you can buy 'em used on Amazon for pretty cheap. Re: DCC boxed set?
I would love a boxed set broken out into manageable soft-covered books. I would buy a few, for me and my players who could not afford one. Including the Zocci dice would be perfect, and would tap into some 1980 red box nostalgia. If GG could publish supplemental materials in the same format that wou...

Re: Ability Scores at 2, 1 and 0
I allowed a player to burn their lucky halfling to 1. Since we had to end the session right after that, and I wanted to see the plot move along, they returned home from the lizard man lair "off camera". On the next excursion, against the orc-cult of Yutrus, they burned the halfling down to...

DCC RPG SRD?
Does any resource exist, or is one planned, to offer the rules in a more condensed form? I found when I was playing D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder, I could have the rules on my smartphone, and I was reading bits and pieces all day, and it was a nice supplement to the books. Also, when gaming something w...
