Re: Recommendation for future adventures
I'd like to add this review for consideration. http://merricb.com/2015/09/28/5e-adventure-review-the-pillars-of-pelagia/ I supported the kickstarter and have Pelagia and War-Lock and I really agree about the layout. I don't even like looking at these to read them. Fairly generic monsters taking up h...

Re: Are wizards too powerful in your campaign?
Spellburn Spellburn is not fuelled by ability points. Instead, the amount of spellburn increases the natural fumble range (i.e. a spellcheck with 4 points of spellburn fumbles on a roll of 1-5 rather than on a 1 only). Hence, the maximum amount of spellburn is 18 (i.e. there is a fumble on 1-19 and...

Re: DCC RPG modules for 5E games
I've been doing this a bunch. Super easy to convert on the fly. Substitute or re-skin monsters. I've done Court of Chaos and The Jeweler Who Dealt in Stardust.

Re: DCC Halfling only class that's worse than Basic D&D sour
Here's what I added to halflings, partially because I don't like the double weapon vibe. Bullseye! Advantage to attack rolls (2d20, use the better roll), when hurling slings, darts and daggers. Roll a d20 for all Thiefly skills instead of d12. Add Luck Die to all Saving Throws As connoisseurs of fin...

They guy who wrote Riddle of Steel has an epic old thread on Enworld about historical warriors. Full of great history and pictures and videos of historically accurate fighting styles. Can't quite remember what it was called...

Re: Fighter Trumps Dwarf Fighter
I've been thinking about Skyscraper's ideas and I begin to see the point. My initial impetus is to remove the double attack feature, because I found it to be an annoyance in play and it requires a fighting style that I don't really associate with dwarves. Looking at it again I agree lowering the Dee...

Re: New Unofficial Armor and Weapon Rules Beta
It looks neat. I don't know what a lot of those weapons are... I do think its strange for Greatswords to be slow in initiative but good for defense...
One thought is that combats will last a bit longer around the time PCs can afford sets of plate... you might want to up some damage stats.

The Lucky Hobbit
Here's my tweaked version of the Halfling class. I'm not a fan of two weapon fighting, especially for gentle hobbits. So I've doubled down on their lucky-ness and swingy-ness. I gave them a Luck Die (stepped lower than the Thief), a better attack and Crit Die, but removed the double weapon thing for...

Re: Fighter Trumps Dwarf Fighter
Hmmm, I'm kinda digging these suggestions, taking my idea of the "simple dwarf" even farther. How about this version? The thought is that the player of the dwarf rolls less dice, but always knows the bonus to hit. The bonus is meant to track about the average of a Warrior's Deed roll. Depe...

Re: Fighter Trumps Dwarf Fighter
Hmmm, interesting thoughts. My changes are mostly to make dwarfs more like my own vision of them, which is tough, hard to kill, simple. I never thought they were trumped by the Warrior as much as unsatisfying in play. Basically, in my play experience, the shield bash made the dwarf into a two-weapon...

Re: Fighter Trumps Dwarf Fighter
I've posted it before, but here's my DCC dwarf... either very defensive or very damaging, but always with extra hps and a lower Deed Die. DWARF Dwarves are doughty fighters, and legendary Carousers. Dwarves can smell gold and see it in the darkest dark when all else are shadow and form. Dwarves are ...

Re: Alternate Spellburn Actions
I used this table Sunday night. The Elf burned 2pts and rolled 24. I had modded the result to make the Bleeding sores = -d4 hps until the Spellburn damage is healed. The player got very upset and said he'd never roll on the table again... this as his spell finish off the battle just as seems to happ...

d24 is a good one, though maybe even stronger statistically.

Re: Tinkering with the halfling
I added a "bullseye" mechanic to Halflings, they get to roll the d20 twice and keep the highest when throwing darts, daggers and slings. Just to encourage them to not be double weapon warriors all the time.

Re: Dwarf vs Warrior
Well, I houseruled dwarves all around. I didn't like how the shield basher played at the table so I made this stereotype instead (lower Deed Die progression, but d12HD, warrior crit dice, and a defensive or aggro combat option). DWARF Dwarves are doughty fighters, and legendary Carousers. Dwarves ca...

Re: Corruption Alternative
I really like this rule as a way for the magical world to "push back" at particularly powerful spellcasters. I wouldn't use this as a baseline for all spellcasting, but it seems like a great one to use when spellburn is getting out of hand, or it feels like a particular spell is taking ove...

Re: Four fixes for DCC
I like the idea of adding Corruption chance with Spellburn! The rule change could be a result of overusing spellburn, or a result of a spellburn of 20, or a curse related to the Wizard Staff and could only apply to that spell. That should give pause, and not have terribly wide reaching effects on th...

Re: Wizard Power
One question, are you making the wizard declare Spellburn before the roll? I felt like Wizards were overpowered until I realized that was the case.
But, yeah, it really comes down to the rolls.

Re: Archdloos,The King of Swords
I like this alot! Thanks! Though I think I'll change the name to Arioch for my campaign... just cause this seems classic enough to deserve it. My only suggestion is that I like trying to base Chaos patron/god tables on the d8, because it's, like, the Chaos die. So, maybe make the Sword spell a d8? I...

Re: How does Magic Work? (Reddit)
This may be a good place to note that I played a short spell duel for the first time last night, and it was cool. Basically, the Wizard in the party tried to Force Shield the Necromancer's spell and we did opposing rolls, the Necromancer won, and forced his way through, causing the Wizard's spell to...

Re: d16 for ability tests? Talk me out of this idea.
I've been messing about with tests a bit in recent games. I too am frustrated by the DC system mostly because I find that as a DM I don't often have a clear DC in my head before I ask for the roll. So I thought about trying to ask for d16s for simple rolls, d20s for average, and d24s for hard rolls,...

Re: Modules For the actual DCC RPG
I've been running old DCC mods straight, without any real conversion... sometimes using equivalent monsters from the DCC book, sometimes not.
