Re: DCC RPG for Fantasy Grounds Virtual Con 5 (Oct 18 @ 8 pm

We are going to use Teamspeak because the server is set up by the FG Con folks, but I will consider using it for Fantasy Grounds games in the future. I do most of my DCC RPG gaming on Roll20/Google Hangout, so it isn't an issue there.

DCC RPGers, Fantasy Grounds Virtual Con is hosting Harley Stroh's level 3 adventure The Jeweler That Dealt in Stardust in a couple weeks. You do not need to purchase anything, just download the demo version and Teamspeak (I think) for voice chat. Date: October 18, 2014 Time: 8:00 pm-12:00 am ET Preg...

Re: Weapons do D6/2D6

The universal d6 damage die is a good solution. Making two-handed weapons 2d6 is likely to result in your players selecting those weapon types if their weapon choices are already driven by damage die. I generally chose a weapon for its flavor, but I have always found d4 weapons to be very unattracti...

Re: Appendix N Book Club: Hawkmoon: The Jewel in the Skull

I recently picked up the complete collection of Conan stories by Robert E. Howard. "Queen of the Black Coast" and "Red Nails" are pretty classic. My personal favorite is "The Tower of the Elephant." I watched the 2011 movie after reading a few stories. The critics were ...

Re: First Timer: Portal Under The Stars (advice?)

Nice session report! My most recent group also had lost 5 out of 16 at that point... We ended with 4 survivors! I will take a shot at these... How do you deal with characters going against alignment (and do you bother with any consequences at 0-level)? At 0-level, I don't worry too much about it. I ...

Re: Appendix N Book Club: Hawkmoon: The Jewel in the Skull

Finished the book a couple days ago. I liked the story, but the writing was a bit amateurish. Characters are very simplistic, and there are a few occasions where time just suddenly advances a week or a month, which I found a little awkward. The plot moves along in fits and starts, but advances relen...

Re: Appendix N Book Club: Hawkmoon: The Jewel in the Skull

I'm reading it right now... It kind of reminds me of Flash Gordon with the ornithopters that fly like birds and flame lances. That creature in chapter one could totally be a DCC monster, btw!

Re: Cthulhu as a patron....need spell list and whatever else

I like to think that characters who are healed by my cleric of Cthulhu are visited by strange dreams for some time, maybe a few days to a week, leaving them vaguely distracted and uneasy during their waking hours. There are no in-game effects... I just like to imagine that's how it works! My charact...

Re: Portal Under the Stars report

Thanks for the summary - these are useful to folks who are planning to run this in the future, in addition to being highly entertaining! I ran a particularly lethal game of Portal Under the Stars a few weeks ago... Four players with four characters each. Only four survived, including one character w...
