Re: Harley Stroh DCC Adventures + Blackmoor
Oh Dang! I forgot about Blackmarsh! I have that in hard copy. It is the Heroes and Other Worlds edition (A nice game), but that would be a good place to pull some ideas alright. Good call out. Very true about the temple of Id. You know what I so often end up doing with those special places on a map?...

Harley Stroh DCC Adventures + Blackmoor
I was setting things up for a possible new campaign placed in Blackmoor under Dungeon Crawl. I notice that Harley had some interest in Blackmoor in the past. Any suggestions concerning his adventures (Harley himself if he stops by the forum) or others for a Blackmoor campaign? Has anyone posted some...

Re: Hello!
Hey, I bought a retail copy of the fourth printing that was made possible by the kickstart. The one with the Pyro cover. Liked the variant cover idea for the new print run. Sounds like you have a cool campaign running. Good to read that you are pulling some of the old Dungeoan Crawl adventures for y...

Re: Variant Warrior class inspired by Dark-Sun
You're using the setting's old working title of War World. Neat. The original concept of the game, while it was under that working title, didn't include the old standard AD&D races or monsters. Might be an interesting route to go. So, include only the classes and races that were new, dropping th...

Re: Fairytale encounters
Near the back door is a garbage bin. From it there is a scrapping sound. Something stuck in there? Something heavy settling? Strange. Roll to see what it is: 1. Half eaten cookie that might once have been a gingerbread man, with crusty edges that are sharper than they should be! 2. A failed attempt ...

Re: B2: DCC-style
This is an old question that seems to still have some legs to it. I have been using the Greyhawk (1983) boxed set under Dungeon Crawl, and I chose to deal with the proclivity of the old D&D standard humanoids and “Monster Manual” standard encounter tables. I chose to include a number of the comm...

I dig the Barrow Ghast variant. These ghast were designed for your Barrowmaze campaign? Neat to read of someone running that with Dungeon Crawl!

Re: Sentient swords handled by differently aligned character
Good times. You know, I always found that players that have never played these type of games always expect magic swords and other weapons to really be magic, as you are employing them in game, following the way they are described in Dungeon Crawl. Only after being giving weapons with lists of pluses...

Re: Training Table!
A little different than I expected, since it is not training done after experience points are achieved in game to potentially rise to the next level, but rather a way to gain experience points through training. Given Dungeon Crawl is pretty tight with experience points, perhaps these training period...

Re: Ultravision - Ative or Passive?
Comparing the ultravision description with that of infravision helps. Ultravision is supposed to be more powerful than infravision. So, maybe it is supposed to be active, rather than passive, though the 2-11 result would need to be changed to something else, because that is a passive result. If the ...

Re: Hit Location Rules
I like the locations that are part of some of the standard Dungeon Crawl critical tables, without further location results, but if I was going to use these tables Scatonaut, I would change the critical tables a bit, removing the locations that are mentioned in them. So, I suggest tailoring new criti...

Re: What Dungeon Crawl Classics modules have monsters from D
Glad to offer them. Your question got me to review those older adventures for use under various other games. Something I like to do is pull items far and near from the same author and bring them into a campaign. I see it as sort of like having a co-ref.

While lacking magic, I have friends that gained inspiration from the first and second of the Blackadder series. Lots of fun those.

Re: Pure strain human?
The authorization rings or bands were designed by humans for humans, they might be only usable by humans, depending upon how the arbiter chooses. This is a Warden specific bit, though. I felt the energy weapons would have more fine controls, being difficult for many non-humans to use. Perhaps increa...

Re: What Dungeon Crawl Classics modules have monsters from D
I looked through a big stack here, which I was wanting to look over to pull a couple anyway for other games. These are the ones that are made up of mostly standard monsters used ingeniously. If there are unique monsters in them, only one (boss) or just a couple of variants. DCC0 Legends are Made, no...

Re: Sentient swords handled by differently aligned character
AD&D set an Ego score for swords of this type, which handled some of the issues mentioned. I wrote a conversion to Dungeon Crawl of the AD&D (1979) rule. The Ego scores from this method have a similar high end as the same sword would in AD&D, but allow a low end that AD&D did not, wh...

Re: Zines and OGL
The great majority of the creatures named by Lovecraft are open by now, hence all the Cthulhu games about these days. So, I would use the name of the creature and describe it as you see fit, with the description as it manifested there at that time, without regard to its appearance in any other modul...

Re: MCC RPG Movies & Shows for Inspiration
Omega Man, though I notice now looking at the inspirations for the game that movie is already listed in the book.
Toxic Avenger, more the character than the background setting.
Barbarella always has seemed good inspiration for this type of campaign.

Re: Creatures from 1978 Monster Manual in modules? Help!
Wizards' games aren't my thing, but I did use some of the older Goodman modules under other games, with conversion. If you are looking to have a more standard D&D selection of monsters, I would suggest getting Castle Whiterock. It has plenty of application for that sort of campaign, with a good ...

Re: Music to MCC by?
Thinking about, I would go more toward Talking Heads and new wave bands for this type of setting. That said, I know that pre-rock'n Roll popular music from 1930-1950 have been used a lot in similar settings for electronic games, like Fallout.
