May 16, 2020: Road Crew Fan Tournament - Portal Under the Stars
In support of virtual gaming as well as the original DCC Day, a number of Road Crew judges are running a zero-level Portal Under the Stars tournament online! We have several games of Portal planned for the same day, run tournament style: 5 players each, 2 characters per player (with reserves to kee...

Re: First PBP Funnel of 2020: The Gig at the Wizard's Tower
The Illuminating Anhk swallows heavily and nods to himself, then turns and goes back -- quietly -- to the room with the slumbering beast. When he meets up with the others: "I have ascertained that the blobous creature is gone and the way is clear for our strategic withdrawal in that direction.&...

Re: Hey Road Crew, how about we still organize something May 16?
Unofficial Virtual Road Crew Day! A few of us are planning on running Portal Under the Stars tournament style on or around May 16 online in lieu of the original DCC Day. We're having an organization meet on discord on Saturday May 9 @ 1:00pm CST. Anyone interested is welcome to join us over on the o...

Re: Do you add luck to spellcasting?
Ach, my bad. I misread it as being about Luck burn, not the Luck mod. I haven't been adding Luck mod to anything except tables where specified (fumble, mercurial magic, etc.).

Re: Do you add luck to spellcasting?
I had always thought Luck didn't apply to spellcasting, as spellcasters already have Spellburn, but then I played in a few games run by Goodman Judges and they allowed Luck for spellchecks. I thought I had read somewhere that it was a typo but can't find it. Maybe check the errata? Is there an errat...

Re: Hey Road Crew, how about we still organize something May 16?
Update: to make it more accessible to all Road Crew judges, we've decided to run the classic Portal Under the Stars! That way everyone has access to the module (either in their hands or the PDF). Join the discussion either here or on the official GG Discord server (this is NOT an official GG event, ...

Re: Hey Road Crew, how about we still organize something May 16?
Great! A few of us have been discussing on the GG discord server (#road-crew-discussion channel). So far we've decided to run Frozen in Time with level-1 PCs and create a scoring sheet to run it as a team competition. Questions and ideas are being gathered at this stage so anyone is welcome to join ...

Re: First PBP Funnel of 2020: The Gig at the Wizard's Tower
The Illuminating Ankh nods to Mercer. "As I too would've suggested, we should've gone East." Shifty notes the gleam in Beezel's eyes and gives a wolfish grin in return. "We're paid by the pound, eh? That there 'ead is worth a whole lot 'o pounds." Alarmed, Shaky frowns at his bro...

Hey Road Crew, how about we still organize something May 16?
So looks like DCC Day is moving to June. I had been planning on running something on May 16 at the local game store -- like many I'm sure -- but obviously we won't be able to. I'm still thinking of running something that day online, and thought: what if we road crew still "organized" (loos...

Catseye, you reveal yourself! haha! Thanks for the generous words. It was a fantastic playtest group and I thought it was a wonderful ending in spite of leaving empty handed. It felt very Vancian indeed and you played your character like a pro. I had been worried going in that the setting might be t...

Yeah, don't spoil too much. We didn't sign NDAs but if we reveal too much it'll not only spoil the reveal for Goodman but we might not be welcome at playtests anymore.

Shifty looked on with dismay at the enveloped flask of oil. "Waste o' a good flask, ain't it just. Sorry, friend," he said to Zend. At the others' suggestions and seeming consensus of heading south, Shifty retook his position on the sword and looked to his smarter brother for guidance. Sha...

By play-by-chat do you mean realtime? What's everyone else think: pbp here or chat on discord? I'm getting kind of busy with scheduled things, so this format works for me. But, I can adapt.

A tale of DCC Carcosa (Judge Julian Bernick) from Virtual Gary Con XII. Let's see how much I can recall... ----- Recording begins. Re: Virtual Gary Con stories
(Great write-up, Terry! Sounds like it was a blast.) Didn't run anything but played 7 games over 4 days. 5 games were some flavour of DCC. Highlights: Playing in Shadow of the Demon Lord with Danny Grimes. Not DCC but a fantastic GM (especially his giant snail voice) and a great group who might get ...

Re: How well do the Lankhmar adventures work with standard DCC?
I haven't run one outside of Lankhmar, but I'd think they'd work just fine. Setting doesn't really matter as the details are sketchy by design so you could substitute any large city for Lankhmar and any Patrons for those of Newhon. I'm wondering how much of the modules' designs considered the flow o...

Re: Favourite Lankhmar adventure?
So far I've only run two: Masks of Lankhmar and No Small Crimes. Both were an absolute blast, though I had to trim stuff out to run them as 4-hour one-shots (and both still ran over 5 hours). I thought "Masks" was sword & sorcery style fun with good pacing, and it worked well as a good...
