HALP! Running the funnel tonight for some n00bs. Anyone have the link to the website that quickly generates zero-level PCs? Used it in the past but don't remember the URL.
Thanks in advance!

Gonna run a zero-level game next month. These suggestions are perfect, especially on using level 1 adventures.

Re: Countdown Thread
Very astute; you posted before I could. The editing and layout are coming along very well. I just sent out a draft of the layout -- 200 pages complete! -- for some proofreaders to take a look at. But to hit a February release date, it would have to go to the printer today. And that ain't happening!...

Re: DCC RPG Status Update
Hi everyone, Just wanted to give you a quick status update. The first chapter is with the editor! As soon as he's done the layout will begin on the first chapter, and then he'll receive the second chapter to start editing. And so on. We're on track for February. I'm sure some of you are excited tha...

Re: Goodman, please don't publish DDC RPG until after Novemb
Hi guys, Your timing is impeccable...I was a few days away from letting everybody know that the core rulebook is indeed delayed. It's delayed for all the right reasons: it will be a better game and a more visually engaging work as a result. The tremendous amount of great feedback from the beta test...

Re: Goodman, please don't publish DDC RPG until after Novemb
Is there a problem with the ruleset? If so, could someone post a link to Goodman or Stroh's post? I recently saw the set available for order at my FLGS' catalog. Shall I notify the store the game's been delayed?

Re: A couple of observations upon reading the beta...
Just a couple of things I noticed: Where a human wizard may cast a spell to summon a demon a few times in his life, an elf may converse repeatedly with the same demon so many times over so many centuries that long-term arrangements become feasible. All elves have one or more extraplanar patrons who...

Re: Types of magic in fantasy.
How about an alternative to corruption where the environment's severely affected, i.e., a spell-fumble on steroids. Example: You temporarily tear the binding threads of reality. For the number of turns equal to the spell level casts, you and everyone within 100' of the miscast must make two rolls fo...

Re: Upcoming playtests of DCC RPG
Enjoyed immensely Joe's run of DCC RPG beta at the SoCal Minicon in Anaheim, California. The most notable tweek / updates are: 1) Thief's skills are now +/- modifiers instead of percentile. 2) Cleric's cumulative spell-casting penalty has been modified so each failure increases deity's displeasure w...

Re: Spells, and what to do with them.... [long]
It will be interesting to hear what people think about this. I know I've said it before, but I'm a fan of the "spellbook" model: showing up with my wizard character sheet and my sheaf of 7 spells that I jealously guard. (And of course, my PC has renamed all the spells to hide them from th...

...part of the 4E GSL agreement says that a publisher can no longer do anything for 3E. I think that this may have some impact on the fact that when Goodman Games switched to 4E they can't go back. Maybe someone more versed in the GSL can verify this? I believe that was the deal -- you couldn't do ...

Re: DCC for pathfinder
has this been though about? publishing DCC material for the pathfinder rpg? or continuing the 3.5 line for use with pathfinder? I think it was a year or two ago when Joseph suggested a type of module where folks would download the version written in their games' particular ruleset. He got flamed --...

Mighty Deed of Arms can be badarse in the hands of the right players. In the climatic battle against a rearing demon serpent, the dwarf leaped up, stabbed her dagger into its throat and slid down its underside like a pirate slashing down a sail. I decided to roll a Fort save of DC 15+ to survive th...

Re: The Implied Setting of the DCC RPG
The Style I got most from the Beta rule set reminded me of the Elric stories and other Moorcock settings personally I got the same vibe as well. Dark fantasy with unpredictable magic, scheming patrons, dying/rising kingdoms, with cinematic elements like slaughtering multiple opponents via steel, wi...
