Re: Acheivements?
I never came across this anywhere myself, but I too would love to hear more about what others have done for players in this area. Personally, I have dabbled with some of this myself as judge in my home games. An unexpected +1 XP is appreciated by my players for being the first to do something 'wise,...

Re: Alkivasha DCC Patron
I actually like that bit of backstory. It perpetuates the notion that the secret of tyrants lies in subjugation through ignorance. Language is a powerful lively, and mystical medium. Only with the passage of time do old words, meanings, names and reputations transfer themselves to new and often cont...

Re: Alkivasha DCC Patron
I am personally fond of what you've done here, incorporating one of the most iconic and beloved of creatures in fantasy rpg into a DCC patron. :) I too think the journal entry makes good background, and is indeed slightly reminiscent of HP Lovecraft... One thing I am unclear of however is Alkivasha'...

This has been a fun one. I've run it with on the go conversions using the dcc rpg rule book and the CCD at the ready.

How many art pieces are needed until completion, now? I'm very excited to hear that the Arcanum is close to being ready, and that there will be a revisionary CCD!

Re: Strength check query
Wait a minute, three strikes and you're out? I thought this was DCC, not baseball. Ironically if you ever have any PC's who attempt to play baseball within the context of a scenario and you apply the time delay between failed attempts, you'll totally annihilate any sensibility you may otherwise conc...

Re: Strength check query
Technically if you look at a Strength Check as a Skill Check, the warrior or dwarf are probably the only ones who have a hope of wrenching the gate open (unless someone else has a background that supports having a Strength Skill). Page 66 DCC RPG states that if the skill is untrained (i.e. nothing a...

Re: Where to buy figures for DCC?
Do you have a specific miniature in mind? One company that has demonstrated quality and merit over many years, and has produced many hundreds and hundreds of minis is Reaper. Overall, I have had the best experience with this company over any other that has produced minis (There are one or two I woul...

Is your screen one long section, or is it segmented with the individual sections parsed together via immaculate paper crafting? Also, I don't understand how Bender got onto your judges screen.

Re: Best sources for adding equipment/magic items and monste
For me the book I have had the most fun with for supplementing the fantasy menagerie in the core rule book is Creatures, Critters, and Denizens by Jeff Rhodes-Gloor. http://www.lulu.com/us/en/shop/jeff-rhodes-gloor/critters-creatures-and-denizens/paperback/product-20734809.html The amount of detail,...

Re: Cthulhu as a patron....need spell list and whatever else
One of my players picked Cthulhu as a patron. I mean that is great. What could possibly go wrong with the great Cthulhu as your patron  Now, has anyone made a list of spells and taints and anything else I could use for this patron? My fellow judges, elders of the d30, and dungeon councilors, ...

Re: Liber Arcanum
You could always use art from common/public sources. I'm not sure but I think a lot of the illustrations on wikipedia are of this designation. There is a lot of classical, gothic, and otherwise fantasy appropriate pictures out there you could probably use. Keep up the good work, and we look forward ...

Re: How balanced are the Crawl! classes?
It would seem to me that the classes in DCC are to balance as the pieces of a chess board are to equality. The wild card though is the person playing the class. Just as the person you're playing a chess match against determines the degree of difficulty of your opposition. Therefore it is through the...

Re: Liber Arcanum
That's a wonderful piece of art McGreggor, thanks for the sneak peak tortog. Also an interesting read on your expanded version of the soul cage, I think I could implement it if the Gnome discovers a healing use with it. The Gnome PC is a product of the design done by Yves Larochelle (sheriffharry). ...

Re: Awarding Luck
I have yet to bestow luck points to the players. Despite this I have seen them spend their precious points to use them as they are designed, knowing that regaining them would be unprecedented, and knowing that the person with the lowest Luck always seems to be the target of random misfortune. Intere...

I'm really looking forward to the Liber Arcanum . I'm a huge fan of your first book; Creatures, Critters & Denizens , Tortog... just this past weekend I was using the Imp from that book and the players went nuts. A gnome PC ended up running off with the soul box  and a barbarian PC had ...

I think crits are only possible through a natural roll. You could use the luck on the roll of the crit table though I believe.

Re: Getting Players to Buy Books/Dice
This is a great question. I have noticed the same ennui when it comes to players providing their own material. It seems that storytellers always have had to provide the bulk of the work, and I'm perfectly happy with that role. But I too would like to see players attend to their own books and dice. I...

Re: Liber Arcanum
This looks like some more really fun stuff. I was a fan of the CCD and I can't wait for the Liber Arcanum. Runes are a great thing, they're really evocative of a low magic mythical setting. Runequest built their rpg around them (go figure) and portrayed them in a really fascinating way. Thanks for t...
