Re: Sailors on The Starless Sea - The Ale
That's great! Just ran this as a one-shot last weekend for my normal group and some kids. Not sure all the character names that fell to that adventure would fit on the bottle!

This blog post has a decent look at the statistics of the advantage/disadvantage method.

Re: How do you define min/max?
I think min-maxing transcends just ability scores. It is only one component of a true min-maxer. In fact if someone tweaks their ability scores like you've shown in your example I wouldn't even bat an eye at. Min-maxing to me is when someone starts to take spells, feats, class abilities with an eye ...

This week I post about Tales from the Sunken City (a.k.a. tales from my online G+/Roll20 game that started with The Perils of the Sunken City and The Ooze Pits of Jonas Gralk from Purple Sorcerer Games):

Re: Dwarven Shield Bash + Strength + Deed questions
I give to hit and damage bonuses from strength to apply to both weapon attack and shield bash. I do not really allow mighty deeds for both weapon attack and shield. With that said, I am pretty liberal with saying yes player's ideas when they use them with mighty deeds. So if their description happen...

Re: Disappointed with the FLGS in regards to DCC RPG.
What if "no demand" means "I've never had anyone in the store actually seem to care enough to have me order something for them," and all the local DCC players are buying their DCC goods online? Yeah, the popularity of obtaining product via an online means makes it hard to gauge ...

Re: VTT Rule Set
I use roll20 to run DCC games. I used to run 4E games via Fantasy Grounds, and FG is nice, without a doubt. The value of roll20 is quite high, however, since it is free. It also handles Zocchi dice rolls without a hitch (this could be cumbersome in FG without some coding). DCC doesn't really requir...

Re: Deed actions that would insta-kill an enemy
I would allow it in my games. At least once! After that if the enemy combatants they will reposition themselves or take other actions to help prevent the same from happening to them. I tend to allow players to be fairly creative with their Deeds and try to say Yes when their dice come up in their fa...

Re: Looking for weekly game via Google Hangout or Roll20
Don't be intimidated by the online VTTs. We've been using Roll20 (integrated to Google Hangouts) and it works pretty well. Focus on the basics, for DCC RPG you don't even need to use the map feature if you don't want. Dice rolling works in the chat window on the right. Folks can make macros for thei...

Re: Regaining Luck
In any case, IMO this is an area of the rules that are sufficiently vague and subject to abuse, so it would be very helpful to the community if the game designers weigh in on it. Not sure we need an official weigh in, that is one of the perks of DCC RPG - things are left up to the judge's interpret...

Re: Coup de Grace
I was just reviewing the combat rules and I never noticed it before but there is no exception for the coup de grace, which seems unusual to me and I know my players would revolt if they were unable to slay prone or helpless opponents. Specifically the rules say +1d for attacking "sleeping"...

Re: Connecting adventures
Works well as I can bypass the travel issue in the wide world. I am keeping my stomping grounds for the players relatively small at this point. To help give me a tool to drop in adventures that might dot the campaign landscape though I am using the "sending stone" from Purple Sorcerer's P...

Agreed. Even if you don't play it, it's a great book to read and drool over the artwork. Classy! Shoot the artwork is what made the decision for me. I heard so many good things about the artwork (and the game, but I wasn't sure I was in the market for a new system then) that I figured for the price...

I agree with TheNobleDrake on this one. I wouldn't get too hung up on the word drain. I would certainly let it heal "loss" and "penalty" as well.

Re: DCC needs just one thing
I’d also ask folks (especially the other parents here) to really look at the DCC RPG and ask themselves this question: is it (and its modules, including all art) really a game you’d give to, say, a 10 year old (the age I learned, on my own, with Mentzer Basic D&D)? I love the game, but I’d argu...
