Re: 0-Level PCs & Higher Level PCs
Right now, my rule is that the player gets to carry their XP total to their new character - they roll 3 sets of ability scores with attached occupations (and birth augurs if they have a luck modifier), then decide what class each would be if they were to use that set for a character... then the res...

Re: Luck score table question
Yeah, it sounds confusing at first but clear once you get it. "The roll" in question isn't the birth table roll (which is the way I read it at first) but whatever roll matches the bonus given by luck. The first time I played I assumed luck would modify the birth table roll, then I realize...

Re: (BHP) Appendix N Adventure Toolkits KICKSTARTER IS LIVE!
I have to say that, while I haven't pledged yet - I have the money set aside to pledge, but am giving a bit of time to make sure I haven't spaced out on some bill I have due before I commit to any spending - I want to pledge so bad, and I want to pledge every cent that I can afford... Unfortunately...

But I *want* to roll funny looking dice!TheNobleDrake wrote: An interesting note is that DCC can actually be played just fine with a single d10 (used as d30, d20, d10 and d5) a single d12 (used as d24, d12, d6, d4 and d3) and a single d8 (used as d8 and d16... also able to sub in as a d7 and d14).

Re: Loving this concept
And if you don't like funky dice, there are some easy fixes. 1. Roll a larger die and roll over (e.g. use a d8 for a d7, re-roll 8's) 2. Use a smaller die and a control die to double the range (e.g. use a d12 and d6 to simulate a d24; do nothing if the d6 comes up 1-3 and add 12 if the d6 comes up ...

3. Rolling different types of dice ... all equal awesome! You know I hear some people complain about the funny dice. I think it is great! It was sort of fun tracking down the unusual dice I didn't have in my collection. It is hard to recapture that feeling when I opened my Moldvay Basic box and saw...

That was my same thought as well! I thought it was going to be a post about how the d30 rolled off the table, down the hall, around the corner, out the door and down the block!mythfish wrote:I read the title and thought the post was going to be about how it won't stop rolling...

Re: Introductions Thread - Join the Band!
From one Fighter fan to another, I would like to inform you that almost all internet chatter regarding Pathfinder is theorycraft and nonsense - the only issue I ever found with it (I run it pretending in most ways that it's just AD&D with some house rules) is that Fighters do have a little trou...

You just might be the whippersnapper here!TheNobleDrake wrote:Can I just take a post to ask... did I seriously end up being the "youngster" around here at a couple years shy of 30? I think a subscription option would be pretty cool. Sort of model it after Paizo. If you are a subscriber you get the print copy shipped to you an a free copy of the PDF.

Yep! Can't wait for it to arrive. I went with the Priority mail option and they aren't that far from me. I think I could see it as early as Tuesday or maybe Wednesday. I've already advised my son we have a copy on its way.Heffner wrote:We must have purchased the last two copies they had. Haha!

Re: DCC RPG sales
That is awesome! Black Diamond Games regular posts how products are doing in there store, it is good see it reach the top selling spot for them! The buzz really seems to be building behind the game. I know I had a bit of a time trying to track down a copy of the hardcover of it. Wish I had had the s...

Re: Introductions Thread - Join the Band!
I tend to go by IronWolf (@ir0nwolf on twitter) on most RPG places on the Internet. I am a newcomer to the DCC forums, but not Goodman Games products in general. Just the first time I felt like I needed an account on the forums. I am pretty much a regular over at EN World. I started playing D&D ...

Re: The Kickstarter madness has me thinking about dice
I'm curious about this too because navigating their site is a nightmare. This thread isn't just about getting some dice; it's about getting a decent matching set of all the necessary dice hopefully at a reasonable cost. I ended up piecing together a set from Troll and Toad of the Koplow dice. I cou...

Welcome, though I am a newcomer myself.
We played our about 6 level 0's through the included funnel adventure just to play with the rules a bit. It was great fun!

Re: (BHP) Appendix N Adventure Toolkits KICKSTARTER IS LIVE!
The only reason I see it being difficult is the sheer number of backers it will need when most won't go over $20. Yeah, I think that could make it difficult. When Goblinworks did their KS for the MMO, the sweet spot seemed to be the $100 mark. That was the level where a lot of the perks were being ...

Re: New to DCC RPG
About a week or so ago I bought the DCC RPG PDF off DriveThruRPG.com. I love it! Just ordered my hardcopy from Troll and Toad. They had two copies left. This sounds so much like my story! I picked up the PDF earlier this week from Paizo's site. And then ordered from Troll and Toad this afternoon, e...

Re: Upcoming rulebooks?
I feel like I have plenty to use from the core book. I definitely wouldn't want to see rules bloat. Adventures are nice and it will be nice to see more of those or even just tips on converting some of the older stuff I have laying around for use with DCC.
