Re: Appendix N in Columbus, OH

I'm going to be in Columbus, OH and was wondering if someone from the area can recommend a bookstore in which to purchase new or used Appendix N materials. I have had some success at Half Price Books. Several to choose from in Columbus: http://www.hpb.com/stores/locations/?zip=&dist=30 I have n...

Re: The Iron Tavern: DCC RPG Blogging

The Iron Tavern posts the Crystal Aberration for the DCC RPG. While their origins are unclear, these crystalline aberrations are perfect for subterranean environs.

Re: Where is the DCC Crowd heading to in 2013... (Con-wise)

We seem to have a growing group of folks I game with weekly online planning to meet up at Origins in Columbus this year. I am sure some DCC RPG will be run with this group.

My GaryCon plans aren't going to happen unfortunately. Marcon might, but likely in limited capacity. It does look like Origins is going to be a go. Looks like several friends from my online games are tentatively planning a road trip to Columbus for that weekend for some gaming!

Re: The Iron Tavern: DCC RPG Blogging

This week The Iron Tavern has the Thaggnaerian Snare Beast for your game. This is a guest post written by a player in my weekly game. He used this set of creatures for a recent one-shot he did. Enjoy!

Re: The Iron Tavern: DCC RPG Blogging

This week I post a patron write-up for Malloc, a patron referenced in Perils of the Sunken City from Purple Sorcerer Games. This is a complete patron write-up with Invoke Patron results, Patron Taint results, a handful of spellburn ideas, and three new patron spells. The Iron Tavern: Malloc - A DCC ...

Re: The Iron Tavern: DCC RPG Blogging

I make an attempt at creating a Dwarven Cleric class for Dungeon Crawl Classics. I tried to find just the right blend between a dwarven feel and some cleric ability. Feedback is welcomed on whether I hit the right blend!

Re: Thieves and Patrons

Also keep in mind that the patron dynamic is typically not just "what do I get?" The other side of the equation is "What's it going to cost me?" Definitely. Ideas of cost come up more readily during play for me! I have started with a crow providing a bit of direction t...

Re: Thieves and Patrons

The crow familiar idea does sound cool! Not too overpowering and actually already fits in with how I was going to have Malotoch make her presence and growing favor of the thief in question known. Instead of having the crow I have in mind go away after my use, I will just have it hang around. Should ...

Thieves and Patrons

I have a thief in my online campaign that I run that would like bond to a patron, specifically Malotoch (a.k.a. Carrion Crow Goddess, the Mother of Ruin, the Mistress Defiler, or the Crow Witch). I am fine with this but need some ideas of how to make this fun for the thief character. I have *lots* o...

Still miffed that a buddy of mine in my gaming group found his copy at Half-Price Books *with* a coupon! He didn't even know that he had the limited edition until I told him.

Thanks, all, and sorry for the delay. What did I think of Sepulcher? It's a deadly (for 1st level) dungeon that is quick to play. We are about 3/4 of the way through Sepulcher in my online game. One near TPK, recover the body helped keep this from being more deadly than it was. And this past sessio...

Re: Mystery Map Adventure Design Competition

If you can afford the printing (and the extra payment to the writer/designers) for the Free RPG, it would be cool to put the alternate maps, as is (rough as they may be) with the outlines on the back in an appendix. I'm thinking you only need 2 or 3 of the alternatives to show the range of what was...

Re: Do we need War rules?

I agree with many of the others, let the war rage on around the characters, but focus on the character actions. So if the character's side is attacking a castle, you build a set of encounters that directly impact the characters. The results of those encounters swing the tide of the battle overall on...

Re: A question about XP

On the other hand, in my home game I tend to ignore XP altogether and award when the charcters reach a significant milestone or resting place. Feel free to award as you like. This is how I do it for the most part too. I just sort of eyeball it, think about how many encounters the group has had and ...
