Re: Suggestions for Frazettian Sword & Sorcery DCC modules
Let me reiterate how amazing DCC works for this particular genre of role-playing (not sure what you'd call it; for the lack of an established term I'm calling it "Frazettan Sword & Sorcery") :) Initially my plan was to experience a funnel and then go back to one hero per player, with j...

Yes.
There's no "hidden" drawback to using armor. If you can live with a -0 penalty, go for it

Re: Core Book Typos?
if the DC to cast is 10 + (2x level), shouldn't a casting only succeed on 20 and above? You're thinking of "In general, your spell succeeds if your spell check is equal to or higher than a base DC of 10 + (2x spell level)" but this is merely a comment providing general insight. The actual...

Re: Suggestions for Frazettian Sword & Sorcery DCC modules
I think these forums would be an excellent spot to share ideas and discuss issues!
(Either this thread or a new one)
I try to visit at least once a week now that I'm actively gamesmastering DCC.
Cheers!

Re: Using missile fire weapon when engaged into melee
I have ruled that attempting to make a missile attack when engaged in melee triggers a free attack from the monster(s). If a monster hits you this stops the missile attack from happening (it counts as a miss; you should be glad I don't have the monster ruin your missile weapon...) #saynotoLegolasNin...

Re: Firing into Melee
I have simplified and streamlined the relevant rule in my campaign. When you fire into melee (and care about not hitting your friend) you take a -2d penalty to the attack, but a miss stays a miss. You can elect to fire indiscriminately (attack at no penalty) if you're prepared for a miss hitting a f...

Re: Firing into Melee
The core rule in the rulebook has a very simple result: Nobody (that isn't truly desperate) ever fires into melee. Since most combat is against monsters engaged in melee (with you or your friends) this means DCC is a game where missile fire plays a rather small part. Sure you can have a campaign whe...

Re: Conversion "The Red Prophet Rises"
After concluding the scenario, my own feedback is that mostly, the very simple statblocks are very nice and easy to use. I would probably make a few more of the NPC magic-like abilities target an area/more PCs; do remember I'm running a troupe-style campaign where each character controls two heroes ...

Re: Suggestions for Frazettian Sword & Sorcery DCC modules
A short summary: The adventure is over. After the initial sneak-around, the bulk of the heroes went room by room clearing out cultists (i.e. the southwestern part of the map). When they realized the Red Prophet lived in the south-eastern caverns they went there right away, and had a big fight. They ...

Re: assisting skill checks
Since DCC is built using the d20 license, when in doubt revert to the d20 rule when DCC is silent on a particular matter. Which, in this case, is pretty much exactly what you are suggesting (skipping the boring bit where the aiding character needs to roll a 10 on his skill check): https://www.d20srd...

ok, so has anyone scared up the thread by Mr. Goodman where he talks about this and clearly states one deed per round? Upthread someone referenced a post by Mr Goodman, but that was on the topic of "does 1d10+2 means all Deeds succeed since you always roll at least 3": https://www.goodman...

Re: What other Appendix N inspired settings would you like to see?
I have checked Modiphius and don't care for it. If there ever was a setting that is badly served by a lot of detailed rules and modifiers, Sword & Sorcery is it. A simple gonzo game like DCC would be VASTLY SUPERIOR to any of the previous attempts, whether they use one d20 or two, in my opinion....

Random stuff (in 27, Hidden Alchemy Lab). Each character gets to make a d14 + Luck modifier roll. Allow a character to choose the next lower undiscovered result in place of a duplicate. 0 or less. Re: Dinosaur Crawl Classics
Thank you. While I am sad there is no official lost world / isle of dread / king kong-like official content for DCC, dropping D&D and switching over to a more lite and gonzo ruleset* was by far the best decision you have ever made, so we will chalk this up as the price of progress :) *) I have l...

Re: Suggestions for Frazettian Sword & Sorcery DCC modules
Had our first session last night - went really great! :) The heroes split up (remember, each character can choose between 3 heroes) to investigate, including a few leads I didn't even think of above. Some heroes followed the (literally) dead end leads with the stupid merchant and wounded guard. One ...

Re: Dinosaur Crawl Classics
Given the topic and when the post was made, the discussion was of an adventure designed for D&D. I doubt Harley was referring to a series of adventures now on the horizon from SGP, which I think has only existed as a publisher for a year or two... He may have been referring to something that wa...

Re: Enlarge is OP, tell me why not!!!
I wouldn't say any spell is OP - rather the opposite, that a lot of spells can be OP.
The point? Since DCC is a game where many things can become OP, stop worrying about things that are OP!

Conversion "The Red Prophet Rises"
(Hope this is in a suitable forum) These are my conversion notes of the level 3-5 module "The Red Prophet Rises" by Malrek and the Prince of Nothing, from the original "For Gold & Glory" ruleset, to my 8th printing of Dungeon Crawl Classics. On first blush, there's a heck of ...
