I couldn't find any penalties for thieves using shields.
Is it a case that they flat out can't?
I'm thiking of allowing them to use them in combat, but giving them a -4 penalty to use them in all other thieving skill use situations.

Burning Luck
Say I have Luck 14 (+1), and I’m not a thief/Halfling.
I burn 4 points, so my Luck is now 10 (+0)
Because Luck is used for listen checks, does this now mean I can’t hear as well as I once could?

Countered or not?
Page 98 4. A caster who is last in the order cannot have his spells countered . Then Page 99 The spellcaster who is last in initiative order has the disadvantage of only being able to respond to spells, not initiate the spell duel . Question: How can a caster both be unable to initiate a spell (page...

Re: Thieves and Shields
I couldn't find it, but how does the thief interact with shields? Can they use them or not? Characters with a Strength of 5 or less can carry a weapon or a shield but not both. Shields cannot be used with two-handed weapons. That's all. Everyone can use every kind of armour, but there are penalties...

Re: The pre-order shipments have left the printer!
Wow!
My book came today, the biggest rpg book I've ever had - by far!
It was also in excellent condition as well. I've purchased much worse from stores down the road.
Thank you goodmangames *thumbs up*

Placed my order April 9th - no hint of it on the horizon.

Re: The pre-order shipments have left the printer!
So... with DCC now available in stores, how long should I wait before I contact customer service about my pre-order copy not being delivered? Similar here, though I ordered mine on April 9th, I am wondering when I will get mine. I know some in the U.K have received theirs, but they may be pre-order...

Re: Complexity Level of DCC
Granted the list isn't perfect, and I assumed people play ad&d like we do - make stuff up for the most part.
On thinking, it's the magic rules that give me pause for thought, everything else seems to be relatively straight forward. And chart heavy; yes, but that too can be resolved.

Complexity Level of DCC
I've been reading a bit lately, how DCC feels clunky to some. I guess it's all a matter of what you are used to. But I'd like to ask those who are now familiar with the game, how clunky is the DCC system? 1. Hero (most complex) 2. 3.5 4. Basic D&D (least complex) Where would DCC fit into the abo...

Re: Classic Modules
The main problem I've got, is I want to use DCC to run the classic modules. I don't want to convert the classic modules to DCC. Ok, I'll probably 'tweak' the classics a little bit. How would you say the levels stack against each other? Simply double the original to get the DCC equivalent? DCC/Origin...

I'm going to go with something like this:
D4: A 1 is a re-roll
D6: A 2 or less is a re-roll
D8: A 3 or less is a re-roll
D10: A 4 or less is a re-roll

Re: Books arrived...now I am pissed!
Hmm . . What is the mature way to handle this? A) Call/email CS and calmly tell them the problem and give them a chance to correct it, or B) get pissed and rant on the message boards? Some folk parted with a lot of money so they could own a nice ' limited edition'. The standard copy, is probably th...

'Cutting off the opponent's hand'. Is that 3+, 4+, 5+, 6+ or 7+? 'Taking the rider out of his saddle with well aimed blow' Is that 3+, 4+, 5+, 6+ or 7+? And so on. Perhaps not the best of examples, but I hope it gets my point across. These are excellent examples of Mighty Deeds of Arms. However, I ...

Re: Fighter Mighty Deeds
So what is being said here is
Make up tables 'if' you wish - but the entire Mighty Deeds thing, was meant to accomodate 'off the cuff' spontaneous buckets of awesome?
And if it really is that cool a move - you really should make a note of its mechanics?

Re: Fighter Mighty Deeds
Have you had a chance to run some games yet? Don't overthink Mighty Deeds - they should require NO work from the judge. It's up to the PLAYER to define them. Every time the warrior lands a strike, he should be describing his attack and what he attempts with the mighty deed. For some players, this i...

Re: Fighter Mighty Deeds
I'm flaky about creating new mighty deeds, and it would help if there were guidelines for how to build them. For example, a 7+ is obviously better than a 3+ but how so, and what do all the intermediary results (+4, +5, and +6) grant you? The Disarm mighty deed is a good example. It's quite involved....

Right, but it's not like Goodman Games intentionally sent him a dinged up copy. I'm sure they didn't. I can understand venting when anticipation levels are this high, but starting a topic for it is a little excessive when we already have a thread of people showcasing their books. But that's how he ...
