Re: Beta Testing Questions from my group.

I can partly answer for 1- usually you don't know the DC, so even looking at the dice outcome is not completely helpful. You are right though, in the fact that regardless of the DC, if one can have a look at the outcome it's always better to look at the dice, so deciding before the roll is practica...

Re: Perception checks

I would just use :
Intelligence - when you're actively searching/looking around/trying to listen to something
Luck - when you're not

Personality - when you're trying to see if the guy's hiding something/is nervous/is a disguised spy

Re: Starting Equipment a Bit Confusing

I did as you did as well. Besides, having 2 items, one BG-related one totally random is a nice push for creativity and cooperation when in a dungeon at 0-level! And for sure you won't be considered rich if you both have... a candle and a hen! ... which makes me think of.. *FLAMING CHICKEN of DOOM* :...

Re: Ability / Skill Checks

I get frustrated when (being used to 3.x D&D) I get lots of 12 and then remember they're "just as good as" any other 9, 10 or 11. :D Actually, Joseph's early drafts of the DCC RPG used attribute bonuses straight out of the 3E SRD. This was revised to the current system after folks wan...

Higher Level Spells for BETA

I was wondering if it would be possible to get some higher level spells, namely 2nd and 3rd level spells, before the official product release. I'm willing to playtest DCC (which, I have to admit,is so interesting that it has taken me away from my duties as DM for a campaign I'm running!) but I fear ...

Re: Critical Hits and Burning Luck

we should get more Luck based ability rolls. That way, burning luck is less like an "expendable points pool" and more like a double-edged weapon: you burn luck, but then when you should be lucky (ie: rolling your Luck) you're not that lucky.

Ability / Skill Checks

Hi there. I've got the feeling that the curve-like bonuses you get from abilities, while great for keeping the power level down and that old-style feeling to DCC, is somehow bad when it comes to skill checks. I would rather have a d20 roll AGAINST your ability score ( that is, you roll d20 and try t...

Re: Elves, Wizards, Balance, Oh My!

hey, my first post here :D First of all, i love DCC, and i'm about to start running a game soon. Secondly, back on topic, I would suggest that having elves roll 1d16+(Double Caster Level -2) on spell checks. I will explain. 1. AT LEVEL 0 : While any 0-level human character with 13+ INT can become a ...
