Re: Patron Bond
I think the idea is that there is a "Patron Bond" out there for each Patron -- if you find such a spell, it's for a specific Patron. The way you contact Bobugbubilz is NOT the same way you contact Sezrekan. Presumably they could study the spell they've found and know who it lets them conta...

Could be.
Could also be that if you're learned enough to cast 5th Level spells, you know your, erm... stuff.

Re: Mod Advice for New Judge
Most funnels tend to be doable in a 4-hour slot (though I find Roll20 can slow things down if the whole group isn't up to speed on how it all works). I'm currently running an every-other-week game and we're not having trouble with things spreading across multiple sessions, but to try to fit in a 4-h...

Re: first campaign
There are references to Aereth -- the biggest being Journey to the Center of Aereth! These references mostly take the form of "hey, we gotta name this town something whatever we do, so we might as well use something from Aereth," but I think they are mostly down to author whim, not any pol...

Re: One Judge, One Player
I would consider saving the regular funnel modules for when you can at least scare up a couple more people. Part of the dynamic of a funnel is that any individual character is pretty limited, but in sheer numbers they can accomplish things... There is a third-party solo adventure that you might cons...

Re: Recommendations for 1-2 Level Modules
The Chained Coffin consistently gets good marks. But it is different, in that it is a fantasy version of "The Appalachians"/rural early-20th Century America and thus not typical 'pseudo-Euro' fantasy, a la Tolkien. Good stuff if you want to dive into a different vibe for your game...

Re: Recommendations for 1-2 Level Modules
If you prefer to work from print copies, what's currently available to you? Maybe we could recommend from there... That said, you can't really go wrong by picking something that appeals to you and doing that. The adventures are designed to stand as alone as needed, though many provide one or more ho...

Re: OAR-NEXT!!!
Looks like Judge's Guild DARK TOWER is the next one! From the way Chris says it -- "Basically, Dark Tower is getting the OAR treatment, if you will ...pretty much the same thing, [but] Dark Tower style" -- it sounds like it's getting a similar treatment, but is not #7 (nor #8, etc.). It's...

Re: assisting skill checks
Rulings, not rules, is part of the game, and definitely applies to this sort of situation. The nature of the door is relevant to the way I run things -- no one mechanical solution can sensibly cover all possible doors. Your +2 base is a good start. You can also use the Dice Chain*, which makes good ...

Re: Dinosaur Crawl Classics
Based on the timing of the post, it was during the era of DCC adventures being written for 4e. At that point, WotC was burning it's license supporters pretty hard. My impression from that time and comments since then is that when the decision to stop building on the license came in favor of developi...

Re: Dinosaur Crawl Classics
Given the topic and when the post was made, the discussion was of an adventure designed for D&D. I doubt Harley was referring to a series of adventures now on the horizon from SGP, which I think has only existed as a publisher for a year or two... He may have been referring to something that was...

Re: Magic Question
The most basic answer is: Yes, exactly. Additional mechanical nuance: • DCC was made to be hacked into the game you want to play. As such, others have allowed the Wizard to know more than 4 spells at 1st level (perhaps only if they can find them), but for any given adventure, they just have the 4. S...

We can't talk about The Unspeakable here!
Well, okay, we can.
It rings a bell, but I can't remember any details... maybe someone else can?
