Re: Familiars... Do the ever grow more powerful?
Interesting. I can remember familiars being a useful but vulnerable low level servant in my AD&D games. In Hackmaster 4th I recall that you could acquire whelks and petunia plants as familiars, which was a lot more useful than it sounds! :) It feels appropriate to me that that the familiar's pow...

Re: Classic D&D Modules
I am planning to have a go at DCC#0 Legends Are Made, a fine module which I picked up recently and maybe in the future a shot at B1: In Search of the Unknown, both starting with 0 level meatgrinder characters. I am also considering B2: Keep on the Borderlands but I think that will be harder to conve...

Re: Converting 3rd edition Skills and Feats to DCC RPG
I'm surprised you're party has leveled so quickly. My campaign has been going for 1.5 years, and only one of them has made 3rd. I'm also a bit of a tough Judge. Like AQuebman, I don't restart PCs at level 0 and I am also a very easygoing DM. I generally find that players will find all kinds of inve...

Re: DCC group goes to Tegel Manor!
I have never played Tegel Manor but have always enjoyed those kinda wacky environments. I have participated in a OSR module called Shadowbrook Manor, which I have been told is similar but I gotta track down a copy of Tegel Manor for myself one of these days.
Love the write ups. Keep 'em coming!

Re: Converting 3rd edition Skills and Feats to DCC RPG
My party is pushing up past 4th level and I can't find any modules that have been released past 4th level for DCC RPG. Beyond the Black Gate is a level 5 DCC adventure that may be of interest to you. I found it to be very entertaining and enjoyed playing it a lot. I agree with reverenddak in doing ...

Re: Stayin' Alive!
Especially the halfling. Sure, he becomes very limited in some actions (dual wielding might be challenging...), but hey, who ever said adventuring was easy? :) Isn't it cool to manage to survive when you're the unluckiest SOB around, or the One-Finger halfling? As long as you have one finger left, ...

Re: What'z going into your DCC Dm kit?
the book of names would be cool but people are charging 300.00 bucks for it. That's 6 or 7 copies of DCC! Holy moly! Last time I looked it was about £12 on ebay. It was one of the cheapest and the last Gygaxian Fantasy books I bought. There seemed to be quite a few of that book and Insidiae being s...

TOAD and Raggi's RECG for random beasties to keep players on their toes. I flip through the following for inspiration as well: RC bestiary 1st ed AD&D Fiend Folio & MM 2nd ed AD&D Monstrous Manual, arcana books like Sea Devils and Illithiad Mongoose Traveller's Animal Encounter's random ...

Re: Hex Crawl Classics
Points of Light 1 & 2 by the good folks whose forum this is are good examples of hexcrawl settings. I have used my B/X B2: Keep on the Borderlands as a starting point for a hexcrawl which was good for us to explore. XRP has modules like White Dragon Run which is a nice little homebase surrounded...

I'm very happy to see more DCC adventures on the way too. 'Colossus, Arise!' looks particularly interesting. Is the giant brain depicted on the cover, part of the headless golem in the background? I can't wait to find out! And it is a level 8 adventure as well. Gonna have to level up them PCs in tim...

I kinda like the straight arrow of Law. For me it shows the singular straight and rigid path that Law takes.
Beermotor's suggestion of Mongolian, Cherokee and Cree alphabets sound very interesting and different, I'll check them out.

Re: Runes
I have a small book on runes which is kinda interesting but I am looking for a bigger book on the subject. It is a good introduction to Elder & Younger Futhark, Norwegian/Icelandic, German and Northumbrian runes. Interestingly enough it is written by a direct descendant of Dr John Dee, the Eliza...

Re: How could Cronan kill the Grue yet be killed by a blob?
Nay, it is only the beginning of the end or the end of the beginning for Gronan! That blob attaching itself to his arm is the the chaos blade Ruin, which will help him crush his enemies, drive them before him and hear the lamentation of their women! I still miss Chuck Plimpton. I enjoyed Emirikol Wa...

I think it is a very enjoyable adventure and can recommend it on that just by itself. If you are interested in other material though, The Horned King is an interesting wild and savage patron. Briefly, from lesser to greater results, invoking him can; Cause paralysing terror into one enemy. The caste...

Re: House Rules We Love
Warriors without armor can use their Agility score in lieu of their armor class. Warriors in armor have damage reduction based on the armor type (in the range of 1-3 h.p.), but damage reduction is per round, not per attack. Clerics get a new spell-known customized by the Judge/player to reflect the...

Playing it pretty loosely but have started to connect things together. I think it was hinted on another thread but I would like to see a new updated release of ...

I admit, the first thing I do upon receiving a new module is flip to the "Death of" image and then flip to the back to see who's joined the lineup. It is good to know that I am not alone in doing this! :) Poor old Filcher Took. At least he took an ice giant with him! Beyond the Black Gate...

Good to hear there are more DCC modules on the way! :) I like the additional random encounter tables in Beyond the Black Gate. I ordered the module today and should be with me very shortly. It looks like a blast! I am getting a bit worried in that only two of the official line up, 'Emirikol was Framed!' and 'Blades against Death' (with a return of Chuck Plimpton?!?) are left. Nice to see other publishers supporting the syst...
