Is there a particular part of the duel process you're finding it hard to grok, or is it the whole thing?

Re: Decent Pics of Halflings, Anyone?
Slim pickings, unfortunately; the concept of "halfling" seems to have been ridden over roughshod by the 3e-style microhumans. Not much worthwhile on deviantart, conceptart, CGTalk, or CGHub either.

Re: Crawl! no.6 Classic Class Collection! Now on Sale!
To me, the words "with the judge’s approval" are the key part to that rule. It's an ambiguous paragraph. As written it could be interpreted to mean that choosing an Occupation is at the Judge's discretion, period. Or it could be interpreted to mean that a Player can choose their Occupatio...

Re: Where are stats for mithril items?
Yep, that was one of the things Joseph liked, if I remember correctly; the use of rp-based solutions to mechanical questions.

Decent Pics of Halflings, Anyone?
I've got a huge collection of appropriate fantasy art on my HD, downloaded over a handful of years, but the one thing that seems really lacking is a good assortment of decent pics of halfling characters. Sure, I keep finding fan pics of the hobbits from LotR, but they are always too recognizable. Th...

Re: Zocchi Dice Buyer's Guide
Recently e-mailed Crystal Caste (the chap behind the fantastic crystal-shaped dice, dwarven stones, etc.) and mentioning DCC RPG, asked if he had any plans to do crystal-style d3s, d5s, d7s, d14s, d16s, etc. in the future. He was very cool and polite, but said he had no plans to do such dice sadly. ...

Re: Crawl! no.6 Classic Class Collection! Now on Sale!
Note that a character’s occupation need not be determined randomly. If a player has a strong sense of the character’s background, he should feel free to use it. Starting trained weapon and trade goods can be determined thematically with the judge’s approval. Not in my game! Reeks of optimization to...

Re: Where are stats for mithril items?
Out of context. The responses were primarily in a thread wherein someone was worried about elves being too powerful compared to magicians, and another thread wherein someone was worried about mithril cheapening the elven sensitivity to iron. Plus, there's "balance" and there's "balanc...

Re: Where are stats for mithril items?
Apart from the fact that its only specific benefit rules-wise is that it doesn't burn elves, here're some thoughts I posted around the subject of elves and mithril when it came up before: Elves are supposed to be sensitive to iron period: weapons, armour, utensils, that gate over there, iron itself ...

Re: Crawl! no.6 Classic Class Collection! Now on Sale!
Interestingly, although the game uses 3d6 in order, there already are key chargen elements that are down to Player choice (and therefore potential optimization). One classic example is the oft-overlooked 2nd paragraph on pg. 21 that states that Players can select their Occupation and need not roll f...

Re: Crawl! no.6 Classic Class Collection! Now on Sale!
For what they are, I think they're solid. Personally I'm a core-class kind of guy, I've never played anything but fighters, clerics and elf fighter-mages, so yep, what can I say. Plus I think the balance between DCC "flavored" and "classic/iconic" was accomplished very well. The...

Re: Crawl! no.6 Classic Class Collection! Now on Sale!
I've really liked Crawl, but I was disappointed by this issue. The thief class is an invitation to optimization, which I consider anathema to DCCRPG. The other classes seem to be just warmed-over versions of D&D classes with pretty much the same abilities etc. (Gnome illusionists? Dual wielding...

Re: Crawl! no.6 Classic Class Collection! Now on Sale!
Thanks for the kind words on the Thief article, by the way; it was pretty easy to reverse-engineer how Thieves are set up in DCC, and it just gives a bit more flexibility in terms of matching a concept.

Re: Crawl! no.6 Classic Class Collection! Now on Sale!
1) Does the $3.95 include the shipping cost? Seems low. The print item and shipping is less than $4.00? 2) How is it shipped? Is the booklet shipped inside a protective mailing package or is the booklet stamped and mailed as is? For I had magazines shipped without being protected and when they arri...

I asked the question above but was ignored, so I'm asking it again: Have you actually directly e-mailed Goodman Games? Random poster on random thread on large forum not getting a reply, does not equal being noticed and ignored, so if it really matters to you, you try and contact directly, whether by...

Re: Aereth maps on this site
It wasn't all that long ago I explained that it's entirely plausible he wouldn't have even started revising Aereth until he'd well and truly established the game including a string of adventures, and gotten back some solid information on sales and continuing viability of the line. Never mind that he...

Re: Aereth maps on this site

Re: Shul Goddess of the Moon
Shul is a god, not goddess. Shul, "The Watcher in the Moon/The Glistening Orb/The Lawgiver" is also patron of Measurement, Tradition, and Literacy He is supposed to have given Aereth its earliest language and calendar, but his worship has largely been destroyed, limited now to isolated cul...

Re: Where in Aereth does Doom of the Savage kings take place
This from a previous thread: Hirot is mentioned as being at the foot of the Trolltooth mountains. If you look here: http://www.goodman-games.com/MM4.html, the Trolltooth Mountains are just west of Thornswild Wood. If you look here: http://www.goodman-games.com/MM3.html, the Trolltooth Mountains are ...

Re: Is our vision of Conan wrong?
Personally I'd love to see a rendition of Conan truer to Howard's vision, grizzled, chest hair, partially missing ear, scars, and slightly less bulky physique than the typical Frazetta Ah-noldesque bodybuilder too. "His cheap tunic could not conceal the hard, rangy lines of his powerful frame, ...
