Re: More spells? Would you support a SpellBook for Kickstart
Personally I thought there were a lot of missing spells but when I looked, there really weren't. I had the same feeling before I had read all of the spells and saw just exactly what was and wasn't present. The most notably missing spell are also very boring, in my opinion - the attack spells that d...

Bryguy, that is rude no matter how new dark cauliflower is or isn't - and don't presume to talk for all the old guys here, that's rude too. To finalize that note, maybe he is just really interested and just wants to yak about the game with other people that like it - and don't you dare discourage th...

Re: Are Warriors not to use scrolls?
Those classes still get to add their appropriate ability modifier to the roll, as it is still a spell check - that means anyone with a +2 modifier or better has a chance of casting the spell from the scroll. Then, you have luck burn which can be used to enhance the character's chances. Last, but cer...

Re: Are Psionics to be like DCC Magic?
I have never understood why it needs a different system than magic in any game. It doesn't need a different system - it's just nice to have one where possible... much like it is nice for clerics to have disapproval and wizards to have mercurial magic & spellburn though there is no need for thei...

Re: Animal Summoning
simple solution is to just use Hit Dice as the only statistic you need to worry about, though treating the saving throw bonuses as warrior of level = hit dice might be a little better to prevent super-high saving throws. Then, all you have to do is decide what sort of animal has how many hit dice......

Re: Spells, Wizards & Material Components
I want to allow my players to use this sort of thing... but my current DCC campaign involves a couple of players that I know it would be toxic for. One guy has this weird thing where he goes from intensely immersed role-player that barely cares about the mechanics into a turbo-charged bonus chaser t...

Re: More spells? Would you support a SpellBook for Kickstart
I looked through the d20 SRD and found material for about 19 spells that aren't already covered by spells in DCC, rendered useless by changes in basic assumptions, or replaced by the "quest for it" mentality. Doing so made me realize that I don't want more spells converted over from D&...

Re: How are you converting old Dnd modules to DCC?
I would actually recommend treating about 3 or 4 levels of AD&D as 1 level of DCC - Mighty Deeds make warriors much more potent, as do the spellcasting systems for Clerics and Wizards... and thieves... the comparison of the two paradigms (AD&D vs. DCC) is staggering considering how fully com...

Re: How are you converting old Dnd modules to DCC?
I happen to be running a campaign on Friday nights that is built on my home-conversions (no, I won't share - I have decided it is best for each who would want to use them to do it themselves for their own DCC flair to be added) of T1-4, A1-4, G1-3, D1-3, and Q1 being used as a single story arc. The ...

Re: Mercurial Magic "Roll Again Twice"? - Completely Baffled
Yes, the confusion lies in the text saying that you roll 1d% and add or subtract percentages from that d-percentile roll - it should just say you roll 1d100 and add or subtract 10 times your Luck modifier rather than just the luck modifier. But no, there most certainly is not meant to be math more c...

Re: dear dungeon doctor
part of the problem is that the game seemed designed to give the players maxing in things. First there is point buy. Then there is gaining ability points when you go up levels. Its a real shock to not have that 25 strength score on the character sheet. That is even more reason to be confused, not a...

Re: dear dungeon doctor
When you are conditioned on 3.x, you believe that without good stats your character is worthless. Hence the GM giving stat bumps. This idea bugs me to no end. I am a player that moved from AD&D 2nd edition (where ability scores didn't do anything at all for most characters unless really high or...

Re: Mercurial Magic "Roll Again Twice"? - Completely Baffled
The table should read "01 or less" at one end, and "00 or more" at the other because you roll 1d100 +/- 10% for each point of luck modifier. As for the "roll again twice" result, yes that means that a spell would have two effects attached to it... for rolling the same r...

Re: Zocchi Dice Buyer's Guide
Also, for anyone interested, the pound of Zocchi dice from Game Science included no d3, d5, d7, d14, d16, d24 - I'm pretty sure I recall Goodman calling the odd dice used in DCC "Zocchi Dice", but I think "Zocchi Dice" really just refers to Game Science's dice in general. Zocchi...

Re: dear dungeon doctor
I don't know what GM centric means... does it mean alot of rules to follow or something? I am going to guess: The person making that comment is referring to the largest portion of rules pertaining only to the GM's decision making for the game. Player options... is it a case where there aren't enoug...

Re: Spell Duels: how to do multiple spells per round?
I think the best way to handle it is to treat the additional action dice just like you would additional casters participating in the duel - so if those extra actions are used for spells relevant to the duel, you handle each interaction separately and apply all the effects simultaneously once they ar...

Re: Official Support
It should be noted that the adventure modules are stuffed full of new monsters, contain new magic items, and some even present new spells and patrons - so a lot of the material normally found in expansion books is out there, just in smaller doses with an adventure mixed in rather than in 130 page &q...

Tell it to him straight. Tell him you don't want stat boosts, tell him you don't want to just give up the rest of your characters - you earned the right to play them if you got more than one out of the dungeon alive - and tell him that destiny can eat it, your characters make their own way. ...but t...

Re: Barbarian Rage, is it Barbaric?
I would be very surprised if the rage does not come from the Celtic Berserkers in real human history. The celts might have had some crazed warriors, but the berserkers are of norse origin. Even the name is from the old norse language. Don't mix things up. :) Yeah, if you mix up your historical refe...

See, this is why I studied English: I;m actually more confused now. LOL. Allow me to re-phrase myself in an attempt to alleviate your confusion. -2d3- There is an 11.11% chance of both dice coming up 1. There is an equal chance of both dice being 2, and an equal chance again for both dice being 3. ...
