Re: iPad and Goodman PDFs

I've really been watching the threads on Kindle, Nook, iPad, and others because I love the idea of being able to take my books and gamebooks with me on vacation. Anyone tried some of the readers other than iPad? (I'm kind of leaning toward Nook just because I have a B&N up the road, but would be...

Re: Upcoming playtests of DCC RPG

A few links for those who are interested in Rob Conley's playtest at ErieCon in PA... Some interesting reading, and suddenly I wish I lived closer to Erie, PA. (I did visit Erie once for my wife's family reunion, but not the same time as a game con.) Everything I've seen and/or read about Rob would...

Re: Chicago Players

I'm also in the Chicago area (Bolingbrook) but my group is full up as well. (Actually, I have people asking to join that I keep turning away. Aren't there any DM's any more?) Seems like Chicago is a real hotbead for "old school" gaming. I know of several posters on some of the boards in th...

there were a couple forum threads on the OSR boards...but I don't recall the links. Re: WFF 4e

WFF works well in pre-4E and I agree that it should work in 4E also. It's just a shame that 3E and 4E are so different, because that means I need to do some major converting if I want to use the same characters in all of the modules. (I was running the WFF modules as a mini-campaign with characters ...

Re: WFF #2

I have the whole set of WFF products, and they are all amazing. I'm more enthusiastic about the first few since they are non-4E in nature, but as I'm starting to figure out 4E I may give the new one a try soon.

Re: Goodman Games has own rpg?

There were a bunch of reports that popped up after DunDraCon and GaryCon back in February/March...I think Jeff RIents' blog had a report, the flyer appeared on Grogardia, there were a couple forum threads on the OSR boards...but I don't recall the links. These were the main places that I first hear...

Re: Upcoming playtests of DCC RPG

I just wanna know when I might be allowed to get on board for playtesting the thing, you know? I agree with you here! I've been interested in the DCC RPG ever since I first heard of it. Goodman products so far have been outstanding and I'm anxious to give this a playtest if any openings pop up. EDI...

Re: Reading Appendix N

I read many of those books back in "the day" but have discovered that most of my current gaming group hasn't read any of the real classic swords & sorcery tales. I suspect that's why newer games aren't "old school", because many of the designers and players are basing their g...

I do not even play 4e (I had the 4e books and sold them), but this one makes me want to run a 4e game again. I might pick up the game again  Hmmm. My experience with 4E so far has been really hit-miss, but I know you from DF and other boards and I value your opinion on game style. Based on yo...

Re: Placing Castle Whiterock in the Wilderlands

Having been a JG fan since the 1970's (subscription to the Wilderlands from back then...) I have a particular like for the area of the world right around the CSIO. Lots to do there, including Modron, Thunderhold, Tegel Manor, and so on. I'd put it to the NE of the CSIO, perhaps near Warwick, and not...

Re: What system will the modules be for after DCC:RPG?

My guess (and hope) is that the DCC RPG will be close enough to 3E so that all of the old classic DCC modules will be pretty compatible, while at the same time close enough to 1E to retain the similicity and fun of the good old days. I'm dying to get a look at this and run it through the paces! The ...

Curse of the Emerald Cobra is my fave. Mine just came shrink-wrapped in the mail yesterday and I didn't get around to opening it yet. It's as heavy as I remember.

I appreciate your anecdotal commments. They get me thinking about how I can make use of this gigantic product!

Re: Supporting multiple systems within the DCC's

Been thinking more about this. I have no problem philosophically with dual-stats in modules, although that means that part of the space would be wasted for each consumer. In many ways the "edition specific" PDF downloads would be a great fix for that problem. The real issue I see is that v...

I'm personally very fond of #29 and #48, the compilations of short lower-levels adventures.

Oh, I forgot that I have a high interest in the old school conversions.

DCC #3: The Mysterious Tower (Castles and Crusades)
DCC #7: The Secret of Smuggler's Cove (Castles and Crusades)
DCC #37: The Slithering Overlord (Castles and Crusades)

Any others I've missed?

Favorite DCC Modules

I have some of the DCC modules and am looking at acquiring more. What I wanted to know is: which are the "best" or "favorite" DCC that I should be looking for? I was thinking of the GenCon Tournament modules: 2004: Crypt of the Devil Lich (DCC #13) 2005: Vault of the Dragon Kings...
