Unnamed Setting

I had this idea...ive no idea how to put togeather anything like this so I used Mr. Authors 'Name Of Legend' as an example.

Unnamed Setting
ã B. Powis 2003. All rights reserved.

Core Statement
Adventures must bravely face an extremely harsh world of extreme seasonal change where creatures and races die out and evolve at an extremely accelerated pace.

Why?
The effects of the harsh seasonal change will make the environment the players are in more important than ever before. Rules would be made for weather changes effecting strength etc.

Who?
As well as races of organisms and plans etc. that regularly die out due to extreme seasonal change there will also be a number of ‘constant’ races who will remain alive through all seasons but are forced to regularly change their lifestyle.

Combat/enemies?
Adventures could be faced with the usually adventure hooks but would also have the opportunity to use the vast environmental changes in this world to form exciting new adventures. In a world such as this there would be much competition between the ‘constant races’, this could lead to combat opportunities and adventures. The environment and accelerated evolution of the world’s organisms could also create an endless supply of uniquely ‘brewed’ creatures for adventurers to fight.

Magic
Magic will be weaker and less important in such an extreme world where survival skills are more important. Magic effects would change along with the seasonal change.

Seasons
In a year there would be a series of extreme seasonal changes that could take effect across the whole world OR across single continents leaving all continents in different seasons at a time.
Seasons would range from thunder and rain, ice and snow, sun and fire plus a possible ‘dark period’ where the world lies in complete darkness for a series of a few months.[/b][/url]

That's a cool idea. It might be hard to implement... you'd have to have some serious weather rules! And a good set of "evolution rules" to determine how creatures adapt. Maybe you could explain it with different gods, each representing an aspect of humanity that is personified in weather. The furnace of truth that burns away lies (e.g., hot weather = honesty), the clarity of cold that crystalizes decisions (e.g., cold weather = decisiveneess)... or maybe not. :) It would require some work, but it would make for some interesting games...
