Hubris Druid Class Question

Planning on using some of the content in the Hubris book for my next campaign and had some questions on the Druid class, specifically the Call of the Animal ability.
1. Mountain Lion and Wolf both affect ability dice. My interpretation of this is that it applies to rolls based on those abilities vs. just a pure Agility or Personality roll.
2. Similar question as the above, but around the Elk. The author refers to "attributes" but the assumption is that these are ability scores and would allow players to roll any test based on them at +1d.
Any thoughts? My thinking is that this is the intended interpretation as being limited to these affects only when making a pure ability roll means they are much more situational.
