If I'm reading the elevator situation correctly, we're looking for another numbered key so we can get to another floor?

Pretty sure.

Or at least reasonably-attractive sure.

The passage ends into a vaulted chamber. The way forward is blocked by 30’-high cliff wall with a protruding rocky promontory. Something atop the cliff glimmers with a white glow, reflecting off the glistening wet walls.

Could we get a picture of that? I'm having trouble visualizing it.

"Does the previous key glow in the dark?"

How steep is the cliff? ...Near-vertical? ...30° slope? ...?

And is it fairly smooth, or have lots of unevenness that could be climbed more easily than otherwise?

Does the cliff appear climbable? Also, did you get/want new zeroes Quozi?

Let's test the surface of the cliff with the pole before anyone touches it. Knowing this place, it's probably coated with acidic, poisonous, electrified, micro-pressure sensors, that'll give you instant cancer--then drop rocks on you.

So, while Yadin checks the ground for danger, Vijo holds his torch on high, inspecting the ceiling for stalactites, loose boulders, or any other visible signs of waiting death from above.

It's steep and appears as though it would be difficult to climb, but not impossible.

Both floor and ceiling appear to be pretty much just like the rest of this level so far. There are indeed stalactites but they were also present in the elevator/acid pool and fountain chambers.

"Does anybody have a grappling hook, genuine or makeshift?"

Fenris's Vashni had a rope, but I'm pretty sure we lost that in the fountain room...

We could always try this:

There is another 50' rope claimed from the elf, Malthus. The closest thing to a grapple I have is a shovel or pitchfork, but I don't like to think of trusting one of those...

How about the crowbar?

Let's try rope plus crowbar.

Let me know where your characters are. Look at the map and use the grid.

Three columns, A B & C. A is furthest from cliff without being outside the chamber. C is adjacent to the cliff.

Four rows for Column A, four & a half for Columns B & C. Numbered 1 (topmost) to 4/4.5 (bottom).

The words "30' cliff" are in B2. The arrow pointing to the cliff is in C2. Get it?

Each square = 10'

PS "Outside the chamber" is a perfectly acceptable answer.

For the discussion, Yadin is in B2 and Yan in B3

Please don't tell me you sunk my battleship...

"I'm not sure a crowbar is a good hook... But maybe climbing where the cliff face meets the walls at a sharper angle like that might be a better way to get up there..." (i.e., climb at D1 or D5).

Outlaw is fairly vague, as far as what skills fall into that occupation... Would climbing, as one might do in an effort to evade the authorities, be in Yan Ambrady's wheelhouse, Rick?

Rufo and Harold (and his cow) hang back near the back wall in A2&3, Vashni stands in B2 presenting his new rope for the grappling hook idea. Would a halfling gypsy have climbing experience?Either way, Rufo , being the new guy, volunteers to try it.

Not sure if you were asking all of us or just GnomeBoy, but just in case: Vijo = B4; Gromluck = A4; Chance = In the Hall

Also, next time I'm taking my 0's shopping before the adventure. Didn't realize accessories would be so important. My group waits and watches, sitting on their collective--brains.

Climbing is included in the common activities on page 67, so I'll allow skilled (d20) rolls.

Note that this is still inferior to a theif's climbing ability. They climb like parkour ninja monkeys. You guys climbing, even if successful, will be slow and arduous.

That said, who is climbing (Rufo?), with what (rope? makeshift grappling hook?), and where ("D1" or "D5"?).

Rufo will attempt to free climb at point D5 with the rope tied to him so he can set it for the others.
