5E Magic and Monsters of Lankhmar

Just looking at the Indigogo page, which just went live today.
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/magi ... ar-for-5e/

Print plus PDF is only $10? Any idea why this book is so cheap? Softcover at 20-24 pages isn't quite what I had hoped for.

A softcover that's 20+ pages long is the same as an adventure module, and those are $10 most of the time...

True, so the cost is in line with those products. I guess I had hoped for a hardback like a lot of other 5E stuff on the market.

I'm wondering if this is a dipping in of the toe, to see what the level of interest is -- perhaps something larger will come of it...

I would have liked to have seen a DCC version.

:? I'm confused.

There already is a DCC Lankhmar. Is that what you are looking for? Over a dozen modules, Lannkhmar campaign boxed set, "Greatest Thieves of Lankhmar" boxed set, and so on. This was a 5E adaptation of some of the same content.

According to the Indiegogo page, this is new material that is not in any of the previously published DCC Lankhmar material. It is not "...a 5E adaption of some of the same content."

That can't be accurate -- every monster listed in the project is one from the monster section of the Judge's Guide in the boxed set.

I wonder if the question was misunderstood...

Well, I had really hoped for a 5E hardback chock full of Lankhmar goodness. A bit different from a 20-24 page pamphlet. Not sayin' the thing won't be good stuff, but I had this mental image which is hard to reconcile with the actuality. :-(

That plus Indigogo instead of KS... well I may wait until the thing is on sale in the regular Goodman webstore.

Put the question to the source, and got this:

"This is a 5E book set in Lankhmar, and the DCC works are DCC works set in Lankhmar. If you’re a 5E player, this is the book for you! If you’re a DCC player, we recommend you purchase the DCC Lankhmar books."

Thanks for the "from the source" information. I'll probably buy a copy through Indigogo to support Lankhmar and support Goodman Games, but I'm still kind of bummed. :(

The PDF has been released to backers. PDF says page count of 34, but that probably includes covers and such.
(1) Short introduction of how Nehwon fits into the history of D&D
(2) Chronological listing of source material (books, stories, poems, and where to find them)
(3) Part One: Nehwonian Nasties (monsters)
(4) Part Two: Magic Wonders of Nehwon (new spells, arcane artifacts)

Nice artwork throughout. Cover is in color, interior in B&W.

Basically, this is material from the books translated into 5E terms. I was sort of hoping to see a lot of the DCC module material converted, but I assume this will have to wait for a larger project. Maybe a hardback?
