A few observations:
- Judges need some refresher training on filling out a Judge's Pack
- the Tournament Command Post needs a banner
- having an assistant is key, but more than one is almost a waste
- we need to print more Player's Packs, and/or we need to advertise the necessity of 1) a team and 2) downloading the Player's Pack
- might be a cool idea to circulate all GG events and contact info...if someone wants to get in the tourney but can't, we could direct them to a session of open gaming
- some simple promotion would be to have DCC Tourney pencils/pens...and I've never say no to a clipboard
- the ribbons were a BIG hit this year with both Judges and teams, even those who got killed...as the tourney wore on, and some Judges started accumulating TPK ribbons, it added some fear to the teams...I love the TPK ribbon as a motivator and team-building thing for the Judges...there was only one reported case of someone getting snarky about it
- we might want to promote the tourney more, including promoting that it's lethal von lethalstein...really hype that and make it "the most fun you'll have getting TPK'ed" or something like that...make the lethality part of the message...I think this can be done in part by using the Gen Con blurb to talk about what the tournament IS rather than discussing the plot hooks...what do you all think?
- authors MUST put monsters in their proper spaces when marking locations
- if author makes a room on a diagonal, they should submit a version of it that aligns on a battlemap

10-4. Just remind me a few months out from Gen Con '09 and I'll use whatever graphics are current as of then.Jengenritz wrote:- the Tournament Command Post needs a banner
This year Gen Con sent an email to every registered participant encouraging them to do this, plus I sent a blast to my mailing list, plus I posted it on the web site (as usual). Our participation on this is probably as good as it's going to get. I can print more Player's Packs next year if need be.Jengenritz wrote:- we need to print more Player's Packs, and/or we need to advertise the necessity of 1) a team and 2) downloading the Player's Pack
Good idea. I could do a master index.Jengenritz wrote:- might be a cool idea to circulate all GG events and contact info...if someone wants to get in the tourney but can't, we could direct them to a session of open gaming
Great idea. Pencils & note pads could work for everyone. I've never seen promotional clip boards but I can look...Jengenritz wrote:- some simple promotion would be to have DCC Tourney pencils/pens...and I've never say no to a clipboard
Good! I think we should keep the same basic colors for the TPK and Judge ribbons, and I can do more of the "DCC Tourney" ribbons in a new color for next year. Just remind me before Gen Con '09!Jengenritz wrote:- the ribbons were a BIG hit this year with both Judges and teams, even those who got killed...as the tourney wore on, and some Judges started accumulating TPK ribbons, it added some fear to the teams...I love the TPK ribbon as a motivator and team-building thing for the Judges...there was only one reported case of someone getting snarky about it
That's a great idea!
